i purchased my 24 hour bag back in 2006. i called the isabella company (try googling them), and contacted the gerard darel representative, and they referred me to the stores that sold them.

I do not have one, but I WANT one. I see some on delcina.com, but they do not carry it in a color I am interested in. I would like black or grey. Bagshop.com has one in black, but isn't that the place where some PF'ers say the quality is different (crappy)?
Any suggestions where I can find one?
Hi fellow ox!! Check this out...

I am soooooo much an ox that it's downright scary! HEHE!

Last week, I wrote to Sylvia at GD as did I believe several other tPFers. In my letter, I mentioned tPF and tried to impress upon her the need for us to have an avenue through which to buy GD handbags...that is, one other than Rumor!! I know that Mischelle at Blondette is trying to communicate with them about carrying their line, but for some reason they've not even responded to her email. I'm sorry...but they just seem so arrogant to me. Were it not for the fact that I'm smitten with their bags, I would kiss off the hopes of ever getting one! As for Delcina, I don't want any of the styles or colors that they are selling.

Oh, you're so sweet posk!! It's really no trouble....I just hate that it's so difficult for those of us who so love these bags to find no reasonable means of acquiring one. I also strongly believe that those who don't find them to be fabulous must have only seen the down-market bags sold by GD. The difference in leather and quality is undeniable...like night and day.

I think I have the lower quality GD bag. While I adore the simplicity in the style and shape, I don't think the leather is that amazing. I have everything from Balenciaga to Marc by MJ. I think Gustto has some really nice quality leather bags. The leather on my Botkier Sasha Duffel is also amazing- super soft yet strong and I'm not afraid to use it. I love the leather on most March by MJ bags.

My own 24 hours GD? i have to be honest and say it's just ok. I bought mine from ebay but it was from a pf member- I forgot where she bought it, I think it was a boutique in LA maybe- I forget the name.

At the time I purchased my bag, there were several others that bought them from the same shop at the same price...that shop is Rumor. Anooshka wasn't giving refunds either although she did finally give me a store credit. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more ended up on Ebay. It's also next to impossible to pick up the difference in quality in a small picture. Because I had bought two GD bags from NM earlier in the year, I had something with which to compare this new bag....and believe me - I Was Shocked At The Difference!!!!!!!!!!

No, it wasn't purchased from shoprumor, although of course the seller could have lied to me. I hope not. Anyway, I'm not going to worry about it since I'm not sure I will ever uncover the truth

The seller was a pf member. I don't think I purchased my bag around the same time as yours. I remember your fiasco. If I read the store name, I will remember where she purchased it, as I called the store to see if they could tell me if it was the higher end version or not (but they couldn't tell me). Who knows, I think initially GD sold only one "version" to US stores and once they saw the bags were selling, they began to sell the lower end versions to the US market since most would not know any better.

In fact, I recall someone here posting that even in France, GD sells 2 versions, a less expensive one that apparently all the masses have purchased and the more expensive, elusive version.

LOL!
I appear calm to those who don't know me and try to present that pretense to my patients, but I'm a total spaz! And I feel like the tazmanian devil sometimes, moving way too fast and sucking everything into my vortex! My husband is always telling me to relax!

I purchased from Bergdorf and sold it. I thought the quality was nice and the leather was fine for the price I paid. My biggest problem was that it didn't fit comfortably over the shoulder with a heavier coat and that when it was laid on the ground, it became completely shapeless. However, I still think the designs are lovely

I had to re-read this because I thought for a minute that I wrote that post (except for the part about the patients), but it's like you wrote that about me!
Too funny!!!

"Because it is so formless, you have to really search through it to pull out what you need"
i agree with that!I like my 24h GD in taupe (haha i'm French,no?and happy to be middle-class...). The design is cute, no tacky details etc..but, it's just so shapeless ;when I put it down, i'm always afraid my stuff will sprawl all over the place!
PS(It's Charlotte Gainsbourg and not her mother Jane Birkin modelling for GD!)

Okay,I had to post. I just received my 24h GD in natural and I love it! I ordered it from Delcina.com,and I was worried about the quality of leather, but it is soft and smells amazing!! It fits easily over my shoulder, and the size is really comfortable for me. Of course, I haven't carried it yet, so we'll see how the shapeless thing goes. I really think for the price that this is a great bag. I am actually thinking that I may have to get another one soon. So, you know, I give it 2 thumbs up!!

Love my charlotte 24 GD bags. Got one last summer in Paris in a taupey/tannish color. Leather is divine and the style is simple and goes with everything. My other one is the patent red leather 24 from neimans, which is also gorgeous. I love them both! I think next time I go to Paris, I'll just have to buy a whole bunch to bring back so those of you who'd like one can enjoy them too.

^I was telling my sister about our dilemma with getting GD bags and she says she's actually willing to go just to buy them for us! Any takers?
