Purse...I'm noticed that you and I have similar taste in bags. We both love our baca bags and as I recall there are others. Just curious...do you know what you Chinese Astrological sign is? Don't get me wrong...I'm no Nancy Reagan...I do this only for fun. It's amazing though how accurately my oxen sign describes me, not to mention my DH who is a rabbit!! Some sites give a bit more detail than others, but the two that I refer to most often are http://memweb.newsguy.com/~twilight/ch.htm AND http://www.holymtn.com/astrology/chinastr.htm Just for $hits and giggles...check out your sign as I'm soooo curious to know what it is!! |

I bought the bag in the tan 24 hrs and ended up returning it. I did like it but didn't LOVE it. The leather was ordinary. Because the style of the bag is so simple - the leather needs to dictate the look of the bag. And it didn't. Also, the little drawstring on the side of the bag snapped in half the first day I wore it. I ended up selling it on ebay. Gerard Darel does have other GORGEOUS style bags on their website but they are not available here in the US. |

I KNEW IT!! I KNEW IT!! I KNEW IT!!! You just had to be!! OMG....this is so funny! I scare myself sometimes as I'm pretty good as guessing one's sign. Did you figure out what other animals you have in your household??? BTW...I can identify with EVERYTHING that an ox is supposed to be. And yes..I do have a terrible temper..a real bull in a china shop. HEHE!! |

I love it. What I REALLY love though are the larger bags (like the 48hours) however they're so over priced in this country - I doubt that I'll ever purchase one. For 800 dollars, I'd buy a Balenciaga instead. Oh well!

Is GD to France what Botkier or HH or Kooba are to the USA? Mid-priced cute bags? Just wondering.... When the critics in this thread scoff: middle class - what exactly do you mean? Like they don't carry Hermes? Or what? I'm confused. |

I have a 36 heures (I posted a pic of it a while back on pf) in gray that I bought in paris and LOVE it. I buy trendy bags constantly but this is always my go-to bag, it goes with everything and carries so much stuff. The leather is divine and it's so durable.

Ok, Iove GD too much.
I got my charcoal 24heures from a gal who got it in Paris so I knew even if it cost a bit more, it was the better leather. I have decided I may MP her soon... I don't carry any other bags and that HAS to stop LoL |

Oohh, Angelfish, not sure if this is against the rules (I hope not!!) but please let me know when you plan on placing the bag on MP. I'd love to check it out!
Sassy, the 36 hours looks great on you! I imagined it would be way bigger but it doesn't seem like it! Erica1451, you purchased your 24 hours from bagshop right? I seem to recall that we "chatted" on one of the other GD threads about your purchase. |

^^Darn, I've been trying to buy a smooth leather "36" or "48" hours bag forever but haven't had any luck - to make matters worse: they now have the bags at delcina - but at a much higher price than what they used to be or what they are in France. Oh well...

I would not say I love or hate GD, but here in Belgium it is like in France. There are tons of these bags around, because it is very easy to buy one (plenty of GD shops in every major city). Sometimes I think ladys look for bags difficult to find as a forbidden fruit, therefore since I am a lady and the GD is sooo easy to find over here, I do not find it particularly appealing.
As many people mentioned, the style is very plain, the quality of the leather is not fantastic (I checked it out), the colors are all sort of faded, washed out. Besides, I don't know if anybody noticed the buckles on the handles ... Thise little things are very tricky if you carry the bag on your shoulder and you wear woven clothes (coat, sweater, etc..). The damn buckle is going to get into the wool and pull threads. Finally, as far as the price is concerned they are sort of average, but for the same amount I would buy anything Italian on the same price range (Francesco Biasia, Furla, Coccinelle, etc..) because their design is a lot more interesting, the colors are faboulous and the leather first quality. |

![]() I am an OX, too! (1973) I think it is all true about me, except for the "slow-moving" and "calm". I am neither; I am extremely fast moving. My husband says I am high-strung and calls me "spazmo"! LOL! |

...Oh, and I forgot to add: I am a LOVER of the 24 heurs bag.
I do not have one, but I WANT one. I see some on delcina.com, but they do not carry it in a color I am interested in. I would like black or grey. Bagshop.com has one in black, but isn't that the place where some PF'ers say the quality is different (crappy)? Any suggestions where I can find one? |
