Hello Ladies and Gents,

I just saw a link ; to a hand bag in Croc, by Hermes for $99,000.
Now I love handbags, don't get me wrong and spend a bit on them as well as shoes. But I just could not wrap my brain round paying; $99,000 for one handbag no matter what it was made of, but this is how I feel personally.
(Also Croc/Alligator is not THAT expensive when sold untreated.)

So I was very curious and just wanted to find out what would motivate a Handbag collector to buy a bag at that price.
And whether any of you would, if money was no object, and why? thanks

Wow, as much as I love Hermes and the Birkin style - $99,000 is not reasonable nor feasible for a purse! You would need a body guard to carry that purse around! It would be pretty scary.

that seller seems to always charge multiples of retail in their listings, i suspect that they sell off ebay for much less most of the time. there are hermès bags that retail for $100k+ (croc diamond birkins) but they aren't my style so i wouldn't get them for that reason.

Thank you so much for your replies ladies, I just could not believe it when I saw it and wondered if it was just me..but as I can see I am not alone in my thought that nothing, no matter how much money I have can would justify spending $99,000 for a Handbag. Personally, not even with Diamonds. Then again we all have different reasons to justify our love for handbags, individually.

No.... i will think abt those poor kids in 3rd world countries with nothing to eat and the beggars at developed countries with no place under their roof. i will rather donate that amt if i'm rich than to spend on a bag. I will feel guilty!
