Red face Who is going to be the breakthrough designer in 2009?
Hi All,
Well, it is really interesting to get your suggestions on the new designers who are going to be big in 2009!!!

Here are three that I put an eye on :

Orla Kiley - She is pretty known but still far from the first line of designers- this may change in 2009, her bags/wallets are beautiful.

Jenny Bird- she can do it! very classical stuff, check out her black leather bags

Elanit Neutra- the first time I saw her works it was in this forum.
if Green Fashion is the trend - she is definitely in the right way!

Any other names? suggestions? comments?
Cheers,
Michelle

Default Breakthrough designers
H,
I love all three and must say that Orla's bags are amazing .
I think Jenny Yuen must also be in the list:

Oh........I don't know. Forgive me, but these two posts sound like advertising......just saying......I don't know who the next big designer will be. Interesting.

Happy 2009!

I really like Rachel Nasvik, but it seems like she hasn't caught on yet. And Jenny Yuen is seconded--she's fab.

Ooh, this sound like a very interesting topic! Great thread! I'm not sure who will be the next breakthrough designer for 09. But I'll keep tabs on these names.

I think proenza schouler is going to become huge with their new handbag line!! some of it has hit stores with limited colour and materials but 2009 is for sure their breakout year

If these people are still relatively no-names why does their stuff cost so much?

Just saying.

their products cost the prices they do because of the quality and workmanship put into the designs and production of their products. The prices are also most likely higher because they are small not well known designers who are not mass produced in countries such as China, it is most likely that their designs are manufactured in the U.S or Canada or Europe which raises the price because of labour costs

Maybe production/quality value? Thats just a guess, Ive never heard of these designers until now. I just like to think we pay more for the quality and not the name.

I personally think the "IT" bag is pretty much over now but at any rate, none of the 3 designers in the OP would be "IT" for me.
