(My searches didn't show a generic thread for any brand/designer. Please let me know if there are.)

You know that bag. You saw it at the store or online and it grabbed you and followed you home. You unwrapped it, loved it for a moment, then never used it. Perhaps the color looked different in the sun, or the zipper is too sticky, the opening too small, you're afraid it will get scratched, dirty or ruined if worn, or the <blanking> flap you have to open every time you want something inside.

What have you bought that you now regret and why? And what did you do with that bag? Keep it? Sell it? Give it away? And if you got rid of it, do you now regret giving it away?

TIA

Hello!

Before my pashion for desingner bags really started I bought about five Guess by Marciano bags. I used three of them for a while but when I bough my first Burberry bag all other bags were forgotten. I have two Guess bags I have never used. I am going to sell them but I am going to keep those three I have used. I will use them in the future because I like them even though they are not my favorites any more. I regret that I bought so many bags that I have not even used them all!

I also have two Longchamp bags (brown and black canvas). I have used them both few times but like the Guess bags I use them now only occasionally. I am maybe going to sell the brown one but I am going to keep the black one. It is good looking with more casual outfits and black looks good with all colors.

That I bought more than one Fendi Spy.

The market (and interest init) for resale seems to have bottomed out. So there they sit in my closet. Though I haven't been to the Fendi subforum lately, so maybe I'm wrong.

I am thinking about giving one to one of my best friends who lost her job in December, has had no interviews from resumes sent out, and really is feeling low. Maybe I can cheer her up a little.

What a lovely gesture. I wish her well in her search. And you in clearing your closet.

Sounds like my Coach collection from years back. They all belong to my daughter now.

My regret was a COACH small signature soho flap #11860. I saw it, bought it, never used it. The poor thing sat in the back of my closet for a long time with tags attached until I sold it.

Not exactly a regret but one bag that just didn't work for me was the Mulberry Emmy, it was too boxy to use on the shoulder and just utterly cumbersome

That is so sweet that you are considering giving it to a friend.

I purchased the Gucci Indy bag last weekend. I do live (not love) the bag alot, but Im upset because I spent such a large amount on a bag that I didn't plan for. I thought about taking it back, but I can't because I like the bag and fear that I will miss it. Oh, to to mention I took her out to dinner the first night.

I regret all of the random clutter I've purchased. I really need to learn to stick to buying a few things that I adore rather than everything that sort of catches my fancy. Literally half my closet is 'what the hell was I thinking' type stuff that just sits there. This summer I am going to try to do a massive purge of stuff.

Balenciaga City in White, I'm so messy and careless and white is not a good color for me. Even when I wear white clothing I always manage to get something on it!! But it is beautiful in white and I guess that's what got me in the end!

A Liberty of London Ianthe embossed leather bag in spring green -- but only because it is too small. Right now I sit and look at it and say that maybe someday I will figure out how to carry a lot less. It was an expensive impulse purchase while in London last summer.

chessmont, you are a very kind person! Best of luck to both you and your friend!

For me, I regret virtually all impulse purchases...probably the worst impulse purchase in terms of cost was the Bal tomato 07 shoulder that I bought earlier this year -- and sold without even using. It was a darling bag in a gorgeous color but waaaaay too small for me. I sold it pretty easily, but at a loss.

I bought several Guess clutches that I never used and really regretted spending the money on. I ended up donating them to a local charity that outfits low income teen girls for prom.

I *almost* bought a silver bag, which I'm sure I would have regretted. I love the idea of silver (goes with everything), but I just don't think I'd actually have the confidence to carry it!
