I have learned that I really do "deserve" to treat myself after so many years of putting everyone else first...
And that it is so much fun chatting with so many other devotees....doesn't matter if we are pursuing the same purse or not...I love that I am not alone! |

I've learned that handbags are not everything, but I do like to have a nice one here and there.

I've learned to take the time to return purchases I don't LOVE and won't wear very often.
I've learned to buy what I like and not what others say I should have. I've learned that bags, like clothes, sometimes look at lot different on than they do sitting on the shelf, and have to be tried on to make sure they flatter me too. |

4.) Don't buy an ugly or average-looking bag just because it has really soft/smooshy leather. Instead, visit the store to feel the soft uglies and Plain Janes. Looks are a first priority; otherwise, I won't enjoy it. QUOTE] I am so guilty of this ! |

That when you deal with really hard things in love sometimes I feel so ashamed for being so obsessed with something so materialistic. But then again, like John Lennon sang :"whatever gets you through the night it's alright..."

i have learned not to buy something that is trendy. to wait for a while before i buy something. if i still want it a few weeks or a month later, then get it.
i bought an LV multicolore bag and i loathe it now. it is sooo dated and tacky IMO. i should've bought something else with my money |

definitely learned credit cards are bad bad bad and that I should save then buy.
and that if I don't buy that one bag, there will be another I will like, its not the end of the world, but when Fendi is marked down to $350 at Nordies....that was something i shouldn't have passed up since it was THE bag and style I wanted. oh well! life goes on. But I still can never have enough. Its like art to me. |

That the price of a bag doesn't always mean quality. I've gotten $400-500 bags that have had linings and pockets rip, bleeding linings, leather rubbing off, loose stitching (HATE THAT), etc. I have bought "boring" lower-priced bags that have been around forever such and Dooney leather, Coach, and those I have had no problems with. I kind of feel like it's a risk to buy some of the more independent designer bags, even though I love the styles. Quality on some not so good.

Apologies if I repeat an earlier reply to this thread: I haven't read each one!
What I have learned is, in the main, to keep it classic. I recently got rid of a couple of Cavalli, Coach and Prada bags I bought at around 19 that had really dated for me and in the past couple of years I have generally stuck to simple, elegant designs that I feel sure I will not be bored of in a year or two. Probably quite young to be thinking about this at 24, but if ultimately I end up with a daughter I'd love to be able to pass her a library of classic pieces that she will call 'vintage' but remain quite timeless if that makes sense? So I don't tend to go in for 'It' bags unless I adore them. Also would never run riot with a credit card again!! Admittedly I only ran up £1,200 before I decided to hang fire, pay it off and cut it up But I always save before I buy now and set myself budgets!

I've learned that selling on Ebay is almost as much fun as buying . . . . .

I need to add that I've learned that I can't make a decision when it comes to finding several bags I like! I'm trying to decide between Gucci black Guccissima Ladies Web Hobo, LV Mono Galliera PM or LV Damier Trevi PM!!! Ahhhhh! Too tough!
