Default What bag do you carry for ultra-casual events?

I went to a minor league baseball game yesterday and am going to a movie today. I always ruminate, in these cases, about which bag to carry. Sometimes the only place to set a bag is on the floor...especially at a packed stadium or full movie theater. What bag do you carry when you know there's a possibility you may have to set a bag on the floor?

(I know as a last resort you can keep your bag on your lap, but sometimes that isn't a good alternative either. Stray butter from your popcorn or mustard from your hotdog wouldn't look too good on a designer bag.)

I have a couple of cheap yet stylish bags I've bought at TJMaxx. Right now I'm using a Kathy Van Zeeland that I don't mind getting a bit dirty or scuffed.

You?

My whole life is pretty much ultra-casual, lol. What I usually do is just carry whatever bag I'm in the mood to carry & set it either in my lap or on top of my feet. If I know it's going to be really cramped wherever I'm headed, I'll try to carry a smaller bag so I won't be as uncomfortable. Most of my bags are either Coach, D&B, or Michael Kors, though, so they're not terribly expensive compared to some other bags here. I'm still pretty careful with them though!

My life is pretty much full time casual too! LOL In a packed theater I'd put the bag in my lap and then place my jacket over it if I was worried about spilling something on it. At a ball game I'd do the same thing or leave my bag at home and just put some ID and money in my pocket.

My life is very casual at the moment as I'm playing stay at home mum to my 2 year old and 3 month old. I normally carry my dior gaucho and a diaper bag. But I'm waiting for delivery of my mini gaucho which I can carry across my body. Arms free and I don't have to set on the floor.

When going to baseball or football games, concerts (rock or outdoor) or other uber-casual events, I'll carry one of a few wristlets I own. If I need to carry a lot--say, a sweater or water, or if I'm going to an arts fair where I know I'll be making many small purchases--I'll tuck a wallet in my pocket and take my Steve tote bag. I bought my Steve on Etsy for around $60: he looks fine with jeans, is easy to carry and as durable as a draft horse. Make fun of me if you want, but Steve and I are a pair!

My blue RM MA mini and my olive Kooba Sienna. It is the perfect bag to pair with jeans and is very roomy.

If I go to the hockey game I carry my Eagle Creek pack, or if I'm camping or kayaking. I've had this bag for over 10 years and it's still going strong. It's great for putting on the gross floor at the hockey rink.

I carry my bal city it is super comfy, light and casual. I usually don't set my purses on the floor unless its like a life or death situation. I usually put the bag in my lap if its super light otherwise it goes behind me. Always worked for me.

My whole life is ultra-casual, so I'll take anything along lately if the weather's good! I usually try to keep the bag in my lap, or hung on a chair. In the unlikely situation of me going to a sporting event, I'd probably carry an old fabric bag that wasn't pristine..

Yesterday I wore my new Linea Pelle Dylan shoulder bag while I traipsed through Manhattan and Bklyn (urban hiking :P) - it seemed to do fine, except for maybe a stay sweat drop (must remember to buy the protector stuff!)

My Kale Tate seems to deal well with light rain and would be easy to wipe off. I also have a (now dingy) yellow Logstoff messenger bag which was AWESOME. I received that as a gift, but I'd love to get one again (and somehow stain guard to preserve the great color).

I carry any bag I want. I never put them on the ground though - either it stays on my shoulder or I rig it between or on top of my feet with the straps over my knee (if long enough). Or I put the straps over the armrest between me and DH. If I'm going to a game or something, I usually try not to carry a purse at all - just put cash, ID, ATM card, cell and lipstick in my jeans pockets.

I have an old Coach that I grab, if I am going somewhere that I would fear to take anyone else. You can clean it up, spray windex on it, wipe it down with a disinfectant towelett and toss it back in the closet. Hey and if it rains, no problem, wipe it off.

However, if I have one of my precious bags, I normally wear my handbag on my knee, then cross my leg over it.

I don't really baby my bags, but I'm not crazy about putting them on the floor either. I usually carry my HH Gaza hobo when I'm at my most casual or in a potentially grimy situation. It's a cognac color with a distressed finish and it wasn't so expensive (got it on sale) that I would be upset if it got a bit dirty.
