I tried to avoid open tote. If I cannot resist the style, at least it needs to have a magnetic closure.

I just bought a YSL Downtown and it's the best of both worlds...open at the top but with zips at the sides!

I drop my bag too much to have an open top.
Plus it isn't as safe in the city!

I'm another who wears her zippered bags open 99% of the time, although I must admit I have had a few instances of turning the corner and having my purse go spilling everywhere as it tumbled off the passenger seat. Which is annoying.

But not nearly as annoying as trying to balance the toddler on one hip, and struggle to unzip my purse with one hand while waiting in line at the checkout counter. Hate that more, I admit.

My weekend getaway bag has huge exterior open pockets with just a small snap closure on each of them. I would put small bottles of lotion in them, and they would fall out a few times! Maybe I'm just too fidgety or something, I don't know. Luckily, I only put medium-large items in the main open interior, but that's a lot more secure because of the flap *and* belt to scrunch the top up. I have a lot of open top bags with just a small closure, and I am extra careful with not swinging them around too much for fear of losing my wallet (god forbid) or other items.

I have a few open top bags and love them. Never a problem

I live in the city so I prefer my bags to be zip-top. I'm willing to carry a magnetic-closure bag but only if it is tucked tightly underneath my arm. So either way, it has to be hard for someone to pick-pocket my wallet.

When traveling, I always use a zip-top, no question. I've seen people get pick-pocketed on the bus or on the streets right in front of my eyes. Scary stuff!
