I like not lugging a big shoulder bag (that really just reminds me of work) around the city during the day or popping out for lunch. I will also use it at night going out to dinner with girlfriends or to a movie. Clutches are a little bit dressier IMO than most bags and I certainly feel quite ladylike when I carry mine.

I have evening clutches and pochettes that I obviously don't use during the day - they're usually in satin and just look like 'evening' bags, so I save those for fancier night events.

I wouldn't personally use a clutch going out dancing in a club or something - need a shoulder bag so your hands are free in that situation!
I totally agree with your post and especially the bolded part :)

I always have a clutch inside my big handbag. I put makeup and smaller items in the clutch. Then if I need to pop out to run errands, I empty the clutch and put my essentials in it.

I agree that clutches are more elegant than shoulder or handbags. I love them!

clutches are the cutest thing alive, day or night!
practicality is another issue although larger sizes are quite on trend.

I use any clutch I like (big, or small) any time I like - in fact, I rarely use any other style of bag.

I love clutches if I don't have the kids and don't have to be handsfree.

I think it depends on the style. If it's sequined, really metallic or beaded, that would be better for nighttime use. But most clutches are very fun for daytime!

I think it depends on what you're comfortable with, as well as the style of the bag. I tend to carry a larger bag, but keep a clutch with my essentials (money, credit/debit cards, phone, lip gloss, etc.) inside for when I'm just stepping out to grab lunch or whatever. If I'm going out to dinner, movies with friends, etc. or something more formal, then I always carry a clutch - no one wants to lug around a huge bag when you go out!

I also like to use a large capacity wristlet during the day.

Alot of my vintage bags (70s era) are actually convertable - they are shoulder bags, but all of them have removable straps. I usually carry them as day clutches, but tuck the strap inside - Just in case!

Clutches are great during the day, as long as you don't need your hands a lot, and always have a secure place to put your bag.

ooh, i LOVE a day clutch, especially in the cooler months.

i wear my bal envelope clutch religiously in the fall and winter because the more layers i have to pile on, the less of a heavy handbag i want to drag around. i do lunch, shopping, errands, etc. with mine and never find it to get in the way. you just tuck it under your arm and go.

Oh nat, your Prada clutch is Gorgeous!! I love your little LV Vernis too.

I like using clutches during the day, as well. It's great when you want to go shopping but carry only a few essential items (or run a quick errand and don't want to lug around a huge bag).

Me too. Especially while shopping... it's so much easier for me.
