coming from a totally different perspective.....
The PS1 is made by folks who have just entered the "bag" business...they do clothes.......... Mulberry...they "do" bags....... We've heard of issues w/the hardware coming off on the PS1 bags & will they be around to service their bags in the future (will they still be doing bags???) With Mulberry - we know the answer is "yes", they will continue to do bags and they will be around to service your needs..... Just a thought if these issues are important to you..... |

^Oh, those are definitely very important issues. However, I do think that even if Proenza were to stop making bags, they would still repair their bags if there was a quality issue. I heard about a blogger whose PS1''s clasp broke. Not only did Proenza repair it for her, they also send her a complimentary wallet as an apology. That's good service!
We've also discussed the issue of leather in the Mulberry forum. Many believes that the leather of the Alexa bag will be an inferior type of leather and not the Bays' usual leather. So the PS1's leather may actually be better than the Alexa, even though Mulberry is famous for their leather bags. Pros and cons

I love the Alexa to death. But I don't think I can justify spending over $1,500 for spongy leather. I'm not saying the quality of spongy leather is bad, but I'm so used to darwin, NVT and light NVT that when face with spongy leather, I feel it won't be as durable as the other 3.
Although feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm no expert in this, I don't even have any Mulberry in spongy leather. |

I agree. I personally like the PS1 b/c my own style is more boyish (androgynous) than feminine. It reminds me much of the danish school bag I used at university and it was a great organized bag. It suited the academic style and had that military edge. The PS1 looks like aviator bags and old-school attache bags from the past. I guess the best is to consider what you envision your style will be or evolve into ... you might lean towards the PS1 if your fashion sensibility is like mine, or the Mulberry if you are leaning towards a more classic feminine style. |

i used to carry Mulberry in the 90s and consider in this case the PS1 an updated version of the Alexa.
the Alexa is literally what i would call a school bag/satchel whereas the PS1 is more modern, no logo etc |

the mulberry, i already bought and sold a ps1 bag because it fell apart in less than 6 months of regular use. it was a very expensive mistake! if you want a bag that you can use, get the mulberry!
