Btw, sorry Roche for posting all this in your thread... I figured it was a "unhappy with purchases!" thread, hope you don't mind!
No problem Kkay, I feel just so sorry for you too. Duties are expensive, shipping takes forevever, we don't deserve that crap.

Yes, always ask for your bag to be inspected before shipping. If you do receive a damaged bag, it's their fault.

Most of the department stores attach their own tags in addition to the ones that come from the designer. I think it is so that they know it is their bag. I would call the stores and have them replace the bags and reimburse you any additional fees for shipping.

that is really ridiculous... i think you should send them back and ask for a refund for everything! including the customs charges if possible.

KK: I understand variations in leather but this bag should have not been sold, period. I'm glad they are letting you exchange it but hope you can work out the customs stuff.

Those are definitely not in great shape! I don't buy online either unless there's a great sale or I can't buy locally, as I've had some disappointing experiences with online purchases. I hope that you're able to get your money back, including customs fees.

As others have mentioned, MK bags always come with tags from the designer, no matter what store they're in. I do see what you mean about the tags being ripped, but I'm not sure why that's a problem as you'd surely take them off if you decided to keep the bag.

I see why you wouldn't want to keep them! It's a shame those lovely bags have been treated like that, and of course, whenever you're spending money on a bag, you want to carry it proudly (not worry about how to fix the flaws).

Quick update on my grey Tharpe, one of the customer service agents took the time to give me a call to let me know that they will send me a return postage label so I don't have to pay for shipping back to them and they'll tick off the replacement box in the customs form so I hopefully don't get dinged again.

I have gone from upset, to frustrated, to appeased... hopefully when I receive my replacement I'll be fully happy. It really is a gorgeous bag, a neutral color that looks great with a lot of stuff I wear and the leather feel is beautiful. I wanted to wear it so badly this weekend, but I knew it was going back.

Thank you to those who commented and let me know what I could do about the replacement. When I get it, I'll post some modeling pics, whee!

Could this be caused by the inspection process when packages come into Canada?
