The worst though is that the back of the bag is STRIPED! There are long darker lines of grey , at least 7 lines, ranging in size from one at 1 inch and the rest are about half the height of the bag. I'm trying to get the pictures off my camera now and I'll be emailing CS about it too. *cry* Those are just the "major" problems too. The torn little spot of leather at the top front and the little white scratches all over the bag pale in comparison to the stripes.
My gold Mercer has the same scratches as yours. All over the bag. I'm very sad because its my favorite of the three I bought (also got a silver Havana - this one i ok).

You need to call NM immediately and complain!!! That is absolutely unacceptable, I don't care what country you live in - you paid all that money for these bags and they should not arrive in such an awful condition! You have documented proof to show them, and NM being such a reputable, high end company should accomodate you. I hope you get on the phone with them right away and express your disappointment and frustration with the way these bags came. Do not take anything less than what you think you deserve! I wouldnt even want a discount, I would want these bags to be replaced...I am so angry for you!! Good luck!

oh and to answer your question...whatever brand the bag is - it will usually have its own tags - wherever I have purchased M K products it has come with a MK tag attached -- bloomingdales, Nordstrom etc..and same goes for certain other brands. For example, when I've purchased my Fendi bag at Saks, it has a Fendi tag..even though I purchased it at Saks.

OMG!!! Thats terrible... I am SO disappointed in HH bags. I bought some on eBay that look 1000% better than the ones we received by mail. They probably send displays during those big bang sales...

That sucks big time. I have ordered from HH 3x and they all arrived alright but shipping took FOREVER!! The only bags I was not very satisfied with were from HH sample sale. I would definitely return the defective bags.

I am also in Canada and what I do is email CS to inspect the bag thoroughly before shipping. I ask that they look the bag over for defects, I know it should be automatic but I have received bags that have been damaged way too many times as well.

Those should fill in with some use. Mine did and there was some chat in the last sale thread (about two sales ago) about that problem and most of it got resolved with a bit of use.

The stripes on that Tharpe are very unattractive.

OMG. Those stripes are HORRIBLE! I can't believe they would even mail out a handbag in that condition..

I emailed my pictures to customer service at HH, and they are letting me return it for an exchange. This is part of the message:

"... thank you for contacting Hayden-Harnett, we can exchange the bag for you however;
I should let you know that the bag isn't damaged nor, is their anything wrong with leather.

This is just a leather variation that can occurs within the texture of the cow skin leather. Their could be a possibility
of this happening again with exchange that we send you. Unfortunately, this is a Featured item, so we
are not allowed to issue a refund on this item."

Not sure if the big scratches on the bottom are a natural variation of the leather, but I'm glad they're letting me exchange it. Thank you Mule for mentioning them putting it as a replacement on the form so I don't get hit with customs again, that would add insult to injury. I'm just clearing up with them if I have to pay for shipping back, the customs form thing, and asking that they have someone inspect my replacement bag for me (thanks Kings_20!). I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one shocked by the stripes!

if you return the bags, you will get your Customs fees back in full.

what about if it's an exchange? Do you know how I would go about doing this?

Also, I got a reply back and I'm expected to pay for shipping back to them. Is it petty of me to be pretty unhappy about this? On top of the purchase price, 20 dollars shipping to Canada, exchange rate, customs fee... now I have to pay for shipping again?

Btw, sorry Roche for posting all this in your thread... I figured it was a "unhappy with purchases!" thread, hope you don't mind!

That stinks! It looks like someone took the Michael Kors bag and dragged it behind a truck!

Gee, I always had the impression the stores in Canada sold such great stuff--I knew a woman that would make a trip once a year and bring back fabulous clothes no one else had here in the States. As for your bags--there are plenty of stories of bad bags coming from the best stores online, and NM is definitely one of them.

People buy them, use them a day or so, and return them (trying them out, I guess--there is a recent post about someone not really liking the bag but using it for a day or so to see if she changes her mind). I just carry mine in the house, posing in front of mirrors before I take the tags off.

I hope it works out for you.
