MY DH isn't as hard on me about tPF like he used to be months ago -

He's seen me on here so often that it's just normal now.

Though he has said that since I started getting on tPF that my purse buying has rose at least 95% And ... he's right ... this place is sooo wonderful ... yet so bad on my bank account.

He plays World of Warcraft so if/when he starts to "nag" that I'm on tPF too much - I'll be like "huh? I haven't even seen you in like 2 hours because of WoW." - he usually backs off.

Show him some of the threads on the handbag showcase forum and then he'll realize that in the scheme of handbag love that having 2-3 bags aren't that ridiculous!

Ask him how many screwdrivers or hammers are enough. I know my hubby would say that one of each just isn't enough.

The nagging from my DH has gotten much less over time. I think he finally came to realize it's a losing battle. He has his things (computers, games, sports, etc) and I have mine. Hopefully yours will come to realize as well.

Mine doesn't get it either - trying to rationalize doesn't work, and neither does comparing my entire collection as having cost less than one set of race wheels, or the disc wheel for the tt bike. Somehow those things are essentials?!

Peeking_Around, you're a WOW-Widow? Oh boy, he has NOTHING to say! You should get an extra Chicklit on that basis alone!

Mine gets it actually, well, to an extent. He collects cars, so he says to friends "I don't give her a hard time about shoes and purses, and she doesn't give me a hard time about cars. We understand each other".

Here's the extent-
When I told him I wanted a ruby LRC he said "Don't you already have a red bag? Why are you looking at red bags?". I had to tell him that the red bag I already own (a Luella Suzi tote-very structured and not something I would carry on a daily basis) is different in utility than the LRC. He just shrugged-he knows I have many brown/black/cream bags and does'nt say a word about those multiples, but I guess color raises his eyebrows?

On another note, he belongs to a few car forums (old and new since he is a car collector), so he doesn't give me flack for being on TPF. He thinks its good to research/discuss items before purchase.

Oh, and I did show him a website with a 190,000.00 Hermes croc/pave diamond purse and he almost hit the floor. I reminded him how much my bags typically cost and he said "Thank goodness-I'd have to check you into a treatment facility if you ever contempated one of those!"

Mine doesn't "get" my purse love, either, but I'm so wonderfully accommodating in so many ways--play Civilization and NCAA football video games with him, join his fantasy baseball and football leagues, and have a leather obsession that manifests in other ways he finds fun--that he is reduced to grumbling a bit whenever I parade out with a new handbag. It's like I have this one, expensive thing I do... but we're lockstep in everything else. So my "bag thing" is mystifying and kind of cute.

Over time, they seem to get used to it. My DH used to be that way and now he acutally points bags out to me and asks "What kind of bag is that?" The ladies he works with (He works with mainly women) tell me that he can actually hold his own in a converstion about handbags too! He know more that some of them!

My SO just shakes when head when I show him my new bags. He has his own obsession with shoes, so he can't really talk.

I used to think like your man when I was about eighteen. I was a poverty-stricken student and could only afford one nice bag at a time. Thank God times have changed!
