Question Making a return to Saks

Bought something recently and it's going back, pretty pricey item. I have the original receipt and the label they gave me, but no form was enclosed for me to fill out for a return, so I'm enclosing a short letter asking them to refund onto my AMEX card.

My big question is on shipping - do I need to insure the package for the full amount and send delivery confirmation so I can track it? I read on the Saks website to send US mail but nothing was mentioned about insurance.

I've never returned to Saks before so want to make sure I do it right. Do I need to call the SA to say I'm returning the item? the label appears to be going directly to "Saks Returns" so maybe it has nothing to do w/the SA at this point?

Thanks for any tips.

I have returned bags to Saks before. I usually use UPS and ask for a signature delivery and get provided with a tracking number there and then. I don't get the package insured.

twinklette, is there a Saks store near you? You can also make the return in store (and save on shipping and insurance). Otherwise, I would recommend shipping via UPS or Fedex in order to track the shipment.

I'd return to the store. It's faster. I've had returns take 3 weeks!
