Default Longchamp - price increase?

Hi everyone, I was wandering through Nordstrom and went of course to the Longchamp section and of course bought a new medium pliage (in this beautiful whitewashed pink called rosey).

when i paid, the price seemed off, but i couldn't place it, until i got home and compared it to my older navy medium from a couple of seasons back, and noticed that the price went up by $5. not that i'm complaining much b/c it's a small increase compared to other designer bags, but nevertheless, it's still an increase!

has anyone noticed this too in the current longchamp prices? thx.

i did! i bought mine at bloomies [i work there], but the tag was marked at $115, but rang for $120. my SA called her manager and said that the price increased recently. but i was still able to get it at $115+employee discount. and $5 increase aint bad, better than most, IMO.

i think we need to get used to a lot of price increases of goods. however, when it comes to longchamp, it makes me kinda angry because they also started making some things in china (which is much cheaper), plus the US dollar stinks compared to the euro (which makes it less costly to import), then they increase?

labor in nearly anywhere else BUT in the US/UK is gna be expensive. china can mass produce in less than 6 months at half the cost. given the world economy right now, businesses need to cut down cost. china [or anywhere in asia] is the best way to do it.

i understand that the world economy can bring companies to manufacture their products in asia. and i dont mind this policy, in fact, i welcome globalization...as long as the company makes sure to keep quality control a top priority. my problem with longchamp is i feel that their quality is going down as well.

well, yeah. that's the main problem of globalization, and cheap labor. it's hard to manage quality control. but at the pace they work at, there's next to no way of maintaining quality. so far, with my longchamp, it's been fine. i've had it for 2 months, and it's still in good condition. im thinking that maybe longchamp didn't outsource ALL of its labor to asia. just part of it. a company like theirs would want to keep the prestiege of saying "made in france" on most of their bags.
