Has anyone seen this bag IRL? (Marlow Satchel)
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category...9231/49231.jsp

I wish they carried a couple in the stores for us to see before ordering. It would take out the guess work as far as how it looks on and size/weight, etc.

^you can see more photos and info here... http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/112993

*I take that back - same name but slightly different bag - how odd. Eh, maybe it gives you an inkling - I don't think your Marlow has a shoulder strap though...

Oh! Rita came home today - pics tomorrow!

I have had good experiences with J Crew bags. They are not $1K bag quality, but they are not $1K prices either. They tend to be made of leathers that scratch easily, but I to gravitate to the weathered look, so I am generally ok with it. I have been stalking the Brompton bags for a year now, and may have to finally get one this Fall. The burgundy hobo is calling my name. I am also a huge J Crew ballet flat fan. I would wear their ballet flats every day all year round if I could. Darn winter in the Northeast, LOL!

I used to have one somewhere as a throw-around bag and it did look a bit battered after awhile, but very stylishly so, which I love.

I'd say their bags are better than Banana Republic, but thinner / more delicate leather than J.Jill offerings (albeit better designs).

I have quite a few J.Crew bags and I love them all. I find their quality is good and they withstand a ton of abuse. I have a Madras fabric bag I bought to carry on my honeymoon years ago and still use it when we go to the beach now, years later I also adore their cheeky clutches! I have quite a few and find I always receive compliments on them.

I used a canvas J. Crew tote when I did a medical mission trip abroad--inexpensive sturdy bag. It served its purpose well because I didn't want to be carrying an expensive designer bag during my trip. Great bag!

I have bought some J Crew bags past and present. They are all of different fabric but good quality. It's true the leathers have a tendency to scratch easily.
But overall, I am satisfied with my purchases and pleased with not having to worry/baby my non-high end designer bag.

I just purchased the Brompton Bucket bag after debating over it for months. I think the leather on the version that I purchased (black) is smooshy and pebbly. I'm in grad school right now and feel really weird carrying around my designer bags with my backpack, so I think this bag is great to wear crossbody.

I just received the structured Edie bag today and it is sooooo cute! Is it the Hermes Constance or the Celine Classic Box? Of course not, but it's a simple classic shape, a soft, pretty shade of red, and a great price (especially since I had a code).

^oh, I'm eyeing the red Edie. Looks like such a great bag to give any ensemble that pop of color. Grats!

I got the Kirtley satchel earlier this month and love it. A great every day bag, has tons of compartments on the inside, sturdy zippers and lovely detailing. However, I am really annoyed at myself for jumping the gun on it because shortly after I bought it in the redwood color, the cobblestone color went to final sale! I would have gotten that instead if I could have saved $70. :( I can't even return it or anything because I bought it on ebay. Lesson learned - wait for final sale if possible!

Now I am waiting patiently for the spring bags. They have two designs I am really interested in.

The Biennial Satchel, in the red or black color. It's 11 x 16 x 7 so the picture is deceptive, the bag in real life is apparently enormous.

And the bag pictured here:

Look at that leopard print! It will probably be too expensive, so I might go with it in another color (it looks like it will be offered in kelly green as well).

nafrate I love the Biennial in red!! So gorgeous and all those compartments are fab.

I just this morning ordered another J.Crew bag. It's a sequin/embroidered hobo and I was blown away by the craftsmanship when I zoomed in on it (hopefully it will be as awesome IRL).

Love J Crew bags! They are under the radar but seem to wear really well. I'm particularly fond of the Brompton line=they are just such lovely leather and are styled to be very versatile.
