I think the main appeal of these parties is the social aspect rather than the merchandise. Also, there's nothing wrong with people wanting 'inspired by' bags, which are actually legal in any case. Not every bag fan is into designer labels. But I wouldn't bother with these parties myself, as I can easily buy a nice, reasonably-priced bag from a department store. There are loads of designer-inspired bags around in regular stores, and you wouldn't feel embarrassed into buying something there. If you don't like the merchandise you just walk away, no questions asked.

I have to admit I would love to go to one of these parties just to see what they have and see the quality. Also I am just nosy and want to see what they are all about. I can't wrap my mind around spending that kind of money on a fake.

There are iconic purses that you do not need to put a label on for it to be obvious that this is a knockoff purse.

Now I agree that there is nothing wrong with looking like a thousand dollars when you spent a hundred. It’s a very rare animal that doesn’t appreciate a bargain. But the point I think you are missing is that a lot of these purses are "status bags." Now we can all argue about the morality and ethical implications of status bags in our society but that point is moot. The fact remains that it is in poor taste to carry a fake status bag. Tacky even.

And there is no untrained eye in the world that can’t see superior quality.
But not everyone here cares as much as we do. Who are any of us to judge what is in poor taste, when it comes to OTHER PEOPLE and their bags? I swear, some of you really know how to suck every oz. of fun out of carrying bags.

I really don't think that people who make comments like yours in these forums "get" what this is all about. Nobody is saying that people shouldn't be able to have nice bags, they sell nice nine west bags at Marshall's/TJMaxx which aren't trying to imitate any other brand, but they look nice and are make of really soft touchable leathers. But people want to go around looking like they spent a ton of money when they didn't - and I think THAT'S wrong.
No offense, but get a hobby. NOt everyone can afford them. Who cares, it's not taking anything away from YOU personally so why would you call the police? WOW!

Hey, Okay I agree with that. I do feel I was in the wrong passing judgment on what is in good taste or not. And in general I'm done with participating in these debates, they always get so ugly and heated. and that's not what we are here for, right?

Me too.......I hope there are pictures. I don't think the OP intended to re-open the whole fake-bag debate again, I think she just meant to let us know she was going to snap some pics for those of us that have a curiosity about these purse party events. And maybe get a bracelet or something :)
