I hope they have the bag you are carrying so that way they can all see the difference. And if no one notices just be sure to kindly point a few out

Before I moved out of state, I had a coworker who would hold these seasonally. I went to a couple, but eventually learned how to politely decline.

It was funny, though, because the couple of times I went I ended up having the women there (both the lady who sold the purses and attendees) gawking at my bags! Mind you, I wasn't carrying Chanel or anything (I think I brought my BCBG bag once and a Coach another).

I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, and I certainly hope I don't come across as snotty, but I honestly don't see how those women could buy such poor quality bags after they touched mine.

Look forward to hearing about your experience.

omgosh my cousin threw one 2 weeks ago but i didn't go. She said that they were the same as the real ones and that for exotics the lady was charging $1-2,000!!! I was like "wtf? who would pay that much for an replica!?!" and she said that those bags normally go for 8-9,000 so people can save money by buying the replica. she then went on to lecture me about how real bags are a "waste".

a few years ago my sister had one of these parties. I didn't go (mainly because I wasn't interested in bags that this man sells out of his trunk and secondly she live about 1/2 hour away and I hate to drive in the dark). But the guy who ran the party got mad a her - not enough sales - it wasn't worth his time.

I guess you can be picky when you sell from your trunk !!

Report her for what? They aren't fake bags.

Additionally, it never ceases to amaze me how snobby some people here are. Not everyone can afford to spend thousands on a designer bag. What is so tacky about a bag that has been inspired by a certain design, that people can actually afford?

A coworker has these parties and her husband is actually a cop... he just looks the other way and tells her to have it cleared out by the time he comes home.

Well they Are fake bags, because they are trying to copy another design - just because they don't "say" they are trying to be coach (or any other designer/brand for that matter) doesn't mean that they aren't trying to give the impression that they are that bag.

I really don't think that people who make comments like yours in these forums "get" what this is all about. Nobody is saying that people shouldn't be able to have nice bags, they sell nice nine west bags at Marshall's/TJMaxx which aren't trying to imitate any other brand, but they look nice and are make of really soft touchable leathers. But people want to go around looking like they spent a ton of money when they didn't - and I think THAT'S wrong.

Um, actually there IS a BIG difference than having a bag that is 'inspired' rather than one that is blatantly supposed to be a fake. Inspired bag are NOTfake bags.

Also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking like you spend a lot of money on your items, when you don't. I do it every day.

I think you're just mad because to the untrained eye, your 'real' bag and someone elses inspired one look similar and you want to recognition of having the real one.

I agree with you that not all inspired bags are fake bags. Inspiration is art and art is inspiration. But I think it’s important to make the distinction that just because a bag doesn’t put a brand on its tag doesn’t mean it’s not a knockoff. There are iconic purses that you do not need to put a label on for it to be obvious that this is a knockoff purse.

Now I agree that there is nothing wrong with looking like a thousand dollars when you spent a hundred. It’s a very rare animal that doesn’t appreciate a bargain. But the point I think you are missing is that a lot of these purses are "status bags." Now we can all argue about the morality and ethical implications of status bags in our society but that point is moot. The fact remains that it is in poor taste to carry a fake status bag. Tacky even.

And there is no untrained eye in the world that can’t see superior quality.
