For Linda on the bordeaux: I would describe it as a darker version of the wine. It is structured and smooth, with no veining at all. Under low light it appears brown but in natural light you can see it clearly has a wine/red cast. Here are some pictures I took of it under evening light. How it photographs depends on the whim of my silly camera and how it feels like focusing. Unfortunately I don't have my good camera to do a macro shot. I also included a shot of the pebbled dark two tone bordeaux because it photographed well and is the same colour.

Thank you Merrygold, you are an angel!! These are the best pics of this leather that I've seen yet, I feel I have a much better idea of the color now.

The dark bordeaux double tone also looks amazing...huh..this only makes my decision harder, lol.

Linda

I'm glad to assist, Linda. The dark bordeaux double tone is gorgey. The large pebbled texture has so much character! It's on my short list, but I'm not sure which style it is most suitable for. I have my sights set on the new knotty Chiara and the HOBO but I don't know if this material will provide the proper drape for these bags.

Hello Merrygold,

I saw the picture of your whiskey ormala and loved it!

Can you tell me if it was light whiskey or dark whiskey, as someone suggested that your bag appears darker than whiskey leather swatch?

Also, what hardware did you use?

Your Ormala is what I've been searching for as perfect work bag! TIA!!

Merrygold,

Thanks for posting the comparison for the wines. I too am interested in the double tone bordeaux. It's so unique and probably really durable also. I am wanting a hobo in tinted wine, I think. So many gorgeous colors!

How scratch resistant is the tinted wine?

Hi Elliot710! I'm sorry but I have no idea which whiskey my Ormala is, lol! I saw the picture of it in the Elle Canada write-up linked on the Ignes website, and told Ignacio that was the exact bag that I wanted, save my customizations. The hardware is burnished gold. If you mention Elle Canada to Ignacio, he should be able to tell you. Here is the write-up:

Hi Kings_20. I'm sorry but I dare not do a scratch test on any of the swatches in Ignacio's beautifully put together lookbook. It would feel too much like vandalism! Oh, but wait! I do have a small sample of the tinted wine that I requested from Ignacio when I received my Ormala. Let me put this one to the durability test, muhuhuhahaha!

Wow, the tinted wine is nearly indestructible! My nails are groomed short, but even with pressure applied, it leaves nary a mark. Now let's try the water test. I ran the sample beneath the faucet and the water just beads right off! There are no damp water marks left behind. The tinted wine is an excellent leather!

The double tone bordeaux is really lovely. Ignacio says that it is fairly soft, although not as soft as the tinted wine, tinted brown and tinted chocolate. These leathers are all made by the same tannery that specializes in soft leather.

The tinted wine is really gorgeous- I think you will love it! It is so soft and kind of smooshy, with subtle veining and a slight gloss to it. Beautiful. I can't wait to get my Sofia in it.

Thank you so much, Merrygold!

I do love everything about your bag.
Your modeling picture totally got me sold on that particular bag.

Couple more questions though..

Do you feel like Whiskey Ormala is too formal for everyday use? I think someone said that she's never used her Whiskey Ormala as it is too formal...

To me, especially in your modelling pix, it seems perfect as a classic handsome brown bag, which is exactly what I've been looking for.

Also, how tall are you, if you don't mind me asking? Regular Ormala looks perfect on you, but on some other tPfer's pictures, it looks a bit oversized.

Me being about 5'3", do you think it'd overwhelm my frame?

Sorry for many questions...can't wait to order my Ormala~~!!

I know elliot710, I know! At least one of each of those....and don't be surprised if you start to feel that way about other styles as well!

Decisions, decisions!

Thanks for your compliments on my bag, Elliot710! As soon as I layed my eyes on it, I knew that it was The One, and I'm glad that it has struck a chord with you, too.

I work in an office and dress in business casual attire, so I don't think that it's too formal for my every day use. It all depends on your lifestyle and work environment. If you request a detachable shoulder strap, it can be made to hang like a messenger bag so that makes it a bit more casual if that is a concern for you.

I am 5'4" tall on a good hair day and of medium frame. I will let you judge its dimensions on yourself, lol! HTH and if you decide to take the plunge, I'm sure that you will your bag!!
