lionlaw, is the "drop" the number of inches from the top of the handles to the bag? Or to where the straps attach? I just measured a bag that is VERY comfortable for me, and it was 10 inches. I really don't like things much higher as my chest, which is ridiculous for my size, gets in the way. Do I go ahead and bug Ignacio another time, you think, or do you mostly use the Ormala shoulder strap, which I asked for? Do you think I'll try to shove the handles on my shoulder?

This purple/pink bag with be SO annoying by the time he's done with it. (And my dh LAUGHED at my choice of colors...ummm...dude, remember WHY? Then he was sheepish...)

Milk & Honey, you might want to opt for a small suede attachment to help keep the straps on your shoulder. newbaglover is getting this, so perhaps she'll join in here and describe it to you.

LindaP is also opting for something in suede to help keep the straps from falling off her shoulder. I'm not sure exactly what it is, so I'm hoping she will chime in here to provide much greater detail than what little I mention here.

The flat straps are what come with the Sofia line and strike me as being a bit more casual. I think the rolled handles exude sophistication. I honestly don't know which is more comfortable, as I have not yet received any Ignes bags with rolled handles.

I'm 4'11" and am happy with the original drop of the Mini Sofia.

Keep in mind that the depth of the Mini Sofia is 3" with a slim profile, so this bag will not jut out as bags with a greater depth.

Also consider if you will wear your bag shoulder-style with a sweater, jacket, or coat. If you shorten its drop, it may be too short to wear with something heavier.

I'm still pondering whether to get rolled or flat straps for a mini Sophia - after scanning the forum, there seems to be a strong preference in general for flat straps, as they're more comfortable, apparently? Is that a correct assumption to make? (I know each bag/person is different).

I've just taken whatever handles came with the bag before, so having a choice is astonishing! I'm really not sure what would be best and most comfortable for both shoulder and arm-carrying. I really need the bag to be up to both.

I know whatever I get will have to be shortened as I'm 5'2", and average length straps have a tendency to fall off my shoulder, or make the bag sit just at the right height to jut out & knock over displays!

Generally the drop is measured from the top of the handles to the start of the bag. I think the regular drop on the ormala handles is 6.5" so it would be too small for you. I personally use the longer shoulder strap when I carry my bags and then use the handles when I want to hold it by my hands instead of slinging it over the shoulder. If that is the way you like to carry bags, then I would stick with the shorter straps so they are not flopping everywhere.

I think with your toddler, you would probably use the longer shoulder strap the most since it would be hands free, hang longer and be easier to get in and out of.

Ya, 6.5 is too small if I ever try to put the bag up...I'll mention this to Ignacio and be annoying. But I'm psyched about the shoulder strap: Hands free is good. You're good remembering the little...he loves bags...today's bag for him was a small plastic bag into which he shoved his two blankies, pacifier, and sippy cup.

No Cute, the drop is the distance between the center point of the handle (imagine an upside-down "V") and the top edge of the bag immediately below it. If the most comfortable drop for you is 10", why not email Ignacio ASAP and request this for your tribute bag before the leather is cut? This way, you can wear it both ways ~ with the straps or with the messenger strap.

merrygold increased the drop on her whiskey Ormala so she has greater versatility in wearing it.

Remember, this is a customized bag for you ~ so why not have the straps at a drop that you know will be comfortable for you? The regular drop of the Ormala straps is 6.5". For some, this may be a bit snug to wear over the shoulder ~ especially over a sweater, jacket, or coat.

Again, why not discuss it further with Ignacio to be sure?

Thanks, dsrk. You're right. I'll email.

Did anyone else feel like a pest, especially a newbie to designers like me, asking him SO many questions...wow. Poor him.

I've been pondering what color Ormala I'd get next and the first isn't cut...and my other wishlist items aren't purchased...should the patent grey be an Ormala? Must have something patent grey.

Oooooo yeah. . . get the Ormala in grey patent! What color lining?

I traded 52 e-mails back and forth with poor, poor Ignacio! I sometimes wonder if he goes home and tells his wife "What have I done??!!! All these indecisive women!!!!"

Hi, how many people here actually have the Cecilia besides dsrk? I'm wondering about Cecilia in electric blue...? I wasn't thinking of electric blue before but for some reason I am now? And, the dark purple....the millie max, perhaps?

paintednightsky ordered a Chocolate Metallic Sparkle Cecilia with Lilac suede lining...I don't know if anyone else has ordered a Cecilia, and I have another on the way (i.e., Dark Gold with Streaks, Gold Metallic suede lining, and Silver hardware ).

The Electric Blue may be too unstructured for the Cecilia, as the Cecilia is a structured design. I have the Electric Blue in a Millie Max, which is an unstructured design. Check with Ignacio, although I think you'll need a more structured leather for the Cecilia. The raspberry, tinted wine, new dark purple ~ these are structured leathers and should work with the Cecilia ~ although it's best to check with Ignacio to be sure.

In reference to a discussion begun towards the end of the previous thread, here is a picture of my Ormala with a 15.4" HP laptop inside. It fits the width and has room for files in the depth, although a laptop sleeve is recommended for protection. My Ormala with suede lining and shoulder strap weighs 3 lbs, 3 oz on my digital scale. HTH.
