The vintage Coach leather is amazing.
There are also some really beautiful ones by Dooney and Cole Haan.
I saw a beautiful one from J. Crew the other day, too.
I've seen some beautiful ones at Banana Republic before, but I know nothing about how those hold up.
Fossil has some great leather bags, too and they last forever.
Also I've noticed that a lot of the department stores are having their big sales right now. I love to go to the bag section and look through their clearance racks. I've found some fabulous bags that way.
(Everything I've mentioned is pretty much within my personal price range of under $500.)
So I am an LV girl but I really want to head out of canvas and go towards a nice leather bag for the day but small enough for the evening.
I'm not into the LV leathers and some of them are out of my price budget at the moment.
I was thinking Balenciaga (first) and currently in the process of receiving one but I'm getting second thoughts because of fading and thin leather.
I'm not into the mulberry bags apart from the small Lilly bags but they are too small. Not sure about Chloe.
I'm looking for a classic and it has to be around £1000 or less maybe a bit more if I love the design. Any idea?
I don't carry much so it needs to hold keys, umbrella,iPhone, wallet, brush and lipstick.
:) thanks for the help.
Abaco makes very nice French made leather bags!
Chloé leather is very good quality too, though their bags are much too heavy, I think.
Gérard Darel is also very popular in my country and so is Jerôme Dreyfuss.....
You mentioned Balenciaga so I assume you want something a bit casual and luscious (rather than structured). I think firstly don't rule out Bal - although the leather is thin, it's very durable, and it wears in like no other leather. Give it 3 months and it melts into the softest leather puddle imaginable.
But if Bal is not for you, I really recommend Marc by Marc Jacobs. It's on the lower end of your price range, but their leather is wonderfully thick and smooshy. Really great value.
