Question I can't believe i am saying this
There are no bags that I am in love with right now! Crazy, right? I'm having a hard time finding the perfect handbag.

I just bought a red leather Cole Haan and found it to be way to heavy, so I sold it my friend who loves Cole Haan.

I have issues with my back and neck when bags are too heavy. Any suggestions? I feel like getting a new bag, but don't want to just get anything. When I impulse buy I always change my mind and end up taking it back or selling it. <----I am tired of that cycle.

SO HERE IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP:

I'm a teacher, so nothing outrageous. Under $200 would be perfect.

I love stitching, grommets, leather or fabric, one handle preferably, must fit on shoulder, and lightweight. I would also like it to be black.

In leather you are not going to find a super lightweight bag! The only bag I've read that is super lightweight in super soft leather is the Balenciaga which is way out of your price range. Why don't you try the B. Makowsky bags or Sonia Rykiel. You can probably find these on sale in the department stores.

My advice is put all of your bags contents into the bag you try on and walk around with a SA and see how the bag feels on and keep looking in the mirror to see how you feel with the bag on and then go from there. Don't buy it just to get a craving out of your system. Buy when you are head over heals in love with the bag that if you had to spend a few dollars more you would just do it!! Good luck!

I just bought a bag from studioonedesigns on etsy. This shop has some really nice designs in very good quality leather and at very reasonable prices.

I don't own many but I've found that TANO bags are light weight and practical. I like their leather too.

Have you seen this thread? The bag is under 200 and comes in black. I don't know if it's very lightweight though, but to me it doesn't look too heavy.

I agree that you can get a great Tano bag in your price range or maybe a teensy bit more than $200, but it will be light weight and you will be able to fit everything in those bags because they are roomy. Also, I thought of Fossil. Fossil makes very well made bags and are light weight, and you can find one, at Dillard for one place, for about $130 or so.

I would like to suggest Michael Kors. On sale right now at macy's. I just bought the astor vanilla satchel for $120 tax included. Quality line, good price and timeless design.

May I suggest you take a look at bags by some sellers on Etsy?

If you check out your local TJMaxx they have a plethora of stuff to choose from. They always have a good range of bags. I would suggest Longchamp as a good lightweight tote. The Le Pliage or Plantes series are great. Plantes I heard is more durable and made of thicker nylon. tThis makes them a bit more durable.

Ellington Handbags are the best bags I have ever bought. I own various bags and their price points are the best I have seen everything under $210 and the leather is AMAZING!!!!!! Very lightweight and many different styles. Check it out! Once you buy one you'll never carry anything else besides this brand!!! http://www.ellingtonhandbags.com

I would definitely recommend going to TJ Maxx, Marshall's and/or Nordstom Rack and looking for a Francesco Biasia bag. They are very high quality, on trend, and well priced at these stores. I have owned several and had no problems whatsoever with them.

I also would second the recommendation that you check out the thread on the Sak Silverlake Convertible Satchel. I have owned one (returned it because the color didn't work for me, but it is a great bag) and I liked it even better than the much more expensive bag that it is modeled after, the Botkier Sasha (I also bought and returned this bag). The dark amber and teak colors in particular make the bag very luxe-looking (it is better in person than online) and the leather is wonderful.

I've heard bad things about his bags. Like the hardware falls off, etc. Is that true?

Wow- 2 summers ago I tried making leather handbags and found out if I didn't have a very expensive, heavy duty machine, that I couldn't make them at the level I wanted. That's awesome work! I have looked at his things before. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for your suggestion. But, I don't like the shiny leather. I love the glove leather look and feel.
