Thank you! Yeah, they are pretty awesome, for my final purchases... But I need to save so I can move out of my apt, so that's a pretty good initiative...I hope I can last...there's a Valentino bag going to 60% off soon that I really want...oh, dear...

Hahaha that exact feeling is familiar, the I-cannot-not-have-it feeling but you can do it! I think there should be a payoff mechanism for it of some sort... but not a fashion purchase, like something thoughtfullu spent with a loved one. Hmmm... I should tell myself that too.

Maybe a trip somewhere!?! I love to travel and would probably have been able to go on at least three vacations with the money I've spent on bags in the last two years..Oh well...thank you for the support!!

Yes exactly! I've been calming myself and doing quick mental calculation of what my purchases can cover when my SO and I go back to Seoul for our trip in Decemebr. It puts things into perspective! Good luck to us and this ban!

I just want one more bag and that will be it until my birthday (in November). It's going to be hard, but I have to do it. I bought 5 bags and 1 wristlet in ONE day last week. Plus, 2 bags from TJ Maxx.

I realize that's overboard for me and it kind of scared me. That's why I set my goal of this last bag till November.

I'm going to start small by not buying another wallet. I really don't need another. I'm also craving a bag and just received some leather swatches but I'm going to hold it off. Hang in there with me please.

Wow it has been almost two years since I posted in this thread. I think when I last posted in 2010 (literally days before my first baby was born) I had two bags on the way, one of which I just counted as a 2011 purchase because it took so long to get here and then I had to deal with HH on a partial refund issue that I just let the bag sit unused. I got another bag around Christmas last year and my husband just got a job so I am treating myself to a treesje magnolia before I become a stay at home mom again. But I think an average of 1-2 new bags per year works well for me.

Staying away from tpf did help for a while especially breaking the buying cycle initially but I can't say I've been all that good, I'm still addicted to buying stuff! Mostly things for the baby/toddler and things like nail polish but still too much stuff. We are moving now because of DH's job and feel like the people from hoarders, really embarrassing too when people are coming over to look at things.

One nice thing though is that I haven't really been tempted by new bags since coming back to tpf. people are still talking about bags that were out when I first joined which is great because I can appreciate what I have. When DH wanted to treat me to a new bag I had a hard time choosing a new style and ended up picking the magnolia because I had wanted one (or an Asher) before but had bought so much I didn't deserve one.

I've given away all my non-designer bags now so at least things store neatly

I've refined my ban plan (haha) I'm going to channel my pennies and hopes & dreams to a big one. Hope I don't crash and end up with random "filler" purchases!

I went over 2 years without purchasing a bag until January of this year when I got my Le Pliage. That was my last bag purchase, and I am still 100% content and not looking for anything else.

I noticed that once you get over a hump of a few months, it becomes easier and easier to NOT buy! It is really difficult at first, and every now and then I start to wonder but overall I am satisfied.

Nice confusionmonkey and alatrop! Before typing this reply, I'm browsing on Ebay then went back to this thread to remind myself to work on what I currently have. Good reminder, this thread. And may the force always with us!
