OK - am new to the blog and new to the high end bags. I've owned the MJ satchel (black), a black Dior tote. Ready for a NEW EVERYDAY BAG

I am looking for an larger every day tote/bag -that's High quality, classic timeless style, functional with some inside compartments for the cell phone etc....something that speaks.... successful 40 something business woman......

don't want: screaming labels, too trendy, too flashy or funky.

love the Chanel Natural Beauty tote -saw it in the 2010 movie "midnight in paris". or old MJ satchels.

what do you recommend for this new comer?!

Welcome to the Purse Forum Lwrosenthal1!
I would recommend Gerard Darel's Midday Midnight bag.
It is sold with a leather pouch the same colour as the bag.

I think you will find the brand in the USA.
To see what it looks like, just click on Maroquinerie once you have logged to the site, than, on middaymidnight in the list...

I love Gerard Darel. Although I only have one of his bags, the leather is scrumptious and speaks for itself. Great suggestion! I think i may just use it today... I tend to use mine on weekends and not to business, though.

I have a couple of fantastic Bally bags, but pre-'09, where it seemed a bit more refined than the current designs. However, there is a lovely one, Nelida shoulder bag, from the current season.

Lanvin does a similar one, but I think I may prefer the detailing on the Bally, it's the For Me two-tone leather shoulder bag.

And to bring it back you your original choice of the Chanel from Midnight in Paris - Lanvin's 'signature' bag, but only recognized by those who know what they're looking at, Happy Large leather shoulder bag. I love the gunmetal hardware.

Lanvin available online, Bally in boutiques.

Good luck!

these are all beautiful! I love Gerard Darel -especially the Santa Fe - but it seems they don't ship to the US? and I love the Lanvin - I can go to Neiman Marcus and I'm still researching the Bally - thanks for the suggestions.

Are you wedded to leather?

How big does "larger bag" mean? Are you looking for a tote-style, or more of a hobo/shoulder?

The Longchamp "Balzane" line has some very nice styles, including both hobo and tote styles.

Maybe a Chanel Cerf tote? (I think it has another name, but I can't remember what it is.) I would also strongly recommend looking into the LV Epi line. It isn't covered in logos and is made of very high-quality leather. Lanvin also has some really incredible options for a successful 40-something business woman. My favorite is called "Happy", but they have plenty of great timeless, logo-free bags.

I hope this helps and welcome to the forum!!!

The mulberry bayswater! I feel it looks more classy than its sister Alexa, which looks more casual :)

^I vote for the Mulberry Bayswater too, I have two including the one pictured in oak and it is a fabulous bag for work; roomy, chic and very practical. I am not a big fan of the Alexa due to the buffalo leather they use for that particular style of bag, but it does look nice. It is very trendy though so if you are trying to avoid anything too trendy the Bayswater is probably your best bet as being more classic it will never go out of style.

Chloe also has some beautiful everyday bags in scrumptious leather - if you are not after a tote bag specifically you could look at the Marcie or the Paraty? Prada also does some beautiful totes.

Prada also has some lovely designs

note that the Dior Panarea is not in leather,it's in a combination of nice fabric and leather,so it's perfect for everyday bag,i don't have this dior but many TPErs in Dior forum who bought it for practical use love using it very much.

I have this one and love it. But, I got it for $259. on Ruelala a couple of months ago. I love anything Abaco as the quality is very high and they can withstand about anything.
