This was something I've been wanting to do but wasn't sure I wanted to see the total. Finally, I did it and I'm not sure where my average falls, but I'm curious. I've added the cost of my designer bags, I have 14, and the total cost is $13K and change. It gives me an average designer bag price of $932.

I have four Miu Mius, they raise the average as I have never gotten a Miu Miu on sale so they are $1371. on average

I have four Chloes, they lower the average as I have always gotten my Chloes on sale so they are $597. on average

I have four Marc Jacobs, half sale/half not, and they are pretty much right on average at $904.

The Burberry was on sale but the Hogan was not and those end up being close to the average too.

$932., when I think about it, is not such a terrible average for designer bags. Of course, if I'd bought more at the Saks sale last year, I could have brought down that average big time!

And if I ever get that Chanel, my average is blown!

Though I adore sooo many of them (especially MJ, Prada, MiuMiu, MK), I'm too practical and casual to carry dressy, expensive bags. Those I've gotten I've quickly sold. Even when I've had more than enough money to afford them, I couldn't justify paying full price/retail. I always fish for deals and buy a bag only if I can get it at 40% to 75% off the original price (depending on the brand). Based on the bags I bought in the last year, my average is $225.

My average so far is $799,5 on each bag..Not too bad.

My avg is $500 per bag this year alone... I would say significantly higher than any other time in my life. One Marc by Marc Jacobs was full retail, the rest were at a discount. I don't see myself doing this next year...

Right before I joined tPF, I would say my avg was more like $35-50.

I definitely understand not wanting to know, and I don't think I'm ready to calculate shoes, that would be more worrying!

Funny, if I calculate "cost per wear" the Miu Mius would come out the cheapest because I

them. I wear the Chloes the least because they are heavy (such great leather) and the MJs fall right around the middle, so it's making sense so far.

I think those are pretty great averages. People don't realize if you research (okay, obsess) enough, you can get great deals. And karmenzsophia, that average is amazing, you are a brilliant shopper!

I would say just off the top of my head it is $1000. I have a few that are over $2000. I also have a few that are $700-$1000

I would say about $1300 or so on average. I love ferragamos and dolces, but the ferragamos I want are always gone by sale time so I have paid full retail for them (well one I got 30-% off... shouts out to my SA Steven!!!!!). The dolces rarely go on sale so full price for those and they are pricey. Same with a lot of my guccis. I bought a hysteria full price about 3 months ago, but then fell asleep with a pen in hand... it didn't do so great. Unfortunately I calculated given the number of bags and the prices... I could have paid for an entire year's rent for a single bedroom apt in D.C

..... ahahahaha.... hence the reason I'm eating in every night.

^^^I so completely understand!!! When I saw $13K I thought, I must be insane. And yet, I know of ladies on this board that would think that is nothing! It doesn't mean anyone is wrong or right because as you said, you are buying some very very nice bags and those come at a cost. My hope is with enough strategic shopping, I can bring down the average.
