I think it depends on the designer... Coach is so common that it doesnt faze me but to see something that you KNOW cost $1000K or more, you really wonder if the girl wearing it knows the value of it & what the real cost is - I dont just mean what the price tag says, but how many hours of work it would take to be able to afford it...
Its one thing if they saved for it themselves or had a part time job and put their own money towards it, but if their parents just buy them whatever bag they ask for its kind of sickening, to be honest. |

I feel as if it is up to the parents to decide. It is not the child's fault if their parents will buy them luxury goods. Parents should raise their children to appreciate what they do have, since when has it become the child's fault? I blame the parents.
Also, there are many different walks of life so I don't feel it's fair for anyone on this forum (or in general) so judge another forum member since most of us do not know each other on a personal basis. |

I just feel like these kids with all these designer items are going to be so bored by the time they reach their 20s. What then? Will mommy and daddy continue to pay for their luxuries, or will the onus fall on the poor guy they end up marrying. You also need to ask why they care so much about designer items in their teens? It's been a while (OK, a long while) since I was a teen, but the absolute last thing I cared about was who carried what designer item and who wore what thousand dollar dress. I enjoyed shopping in thrift stores to be different to the norm. A typical shopping trip for me was around $3 for a dress, shirt and a pair of shoes so I could be an individual with my own style. To reiterate, if I asked my parents for a Chanel purse I would have been laughed at. I feel there is such a sense of entitlement amongst the younger crowd nowadays. It's pretty sad. |

it depends on their attitude. sometimes you can tell daddy's plastic bought it; sometimes it's possible they scrimped and saved for it.

We care/like about designer items so much just like everyone else on this forum. Just because you wear a LV/Chanel purse while being a teen, does not mean all of your clothes are expensive, atleast from what i've seen. A few of us at the teenage thread talk about stopping by at TJ maxx, or the re-sell shops in their citys. |

#1 Stop judging people you don't know personally. #2 Mommy and Daddy? You make those words sound discusting. Which, they shouldn't be. They're endearing words, which you make sound like dirt. #3 Just because a teen carries a designer bag doesn't mean they are "above" or feel as if they are "above" everyone else. I shop at thrift stores all the time, I'm always looking for that hidden gem, and you know what? I carry my Louis Vuitton speedy 30 with me while I do that, which I bought, pre-loved. #4 Oh, and just so you know, when I asked my mom for a coach purse, she laughed at me. A louis vuitton, they were in tears, and when i mentioned I wouldn't die w/o a birkin, they didn't know what a birkin was. When I explained it could costs upward of six thousand dollars, they gave me doubts. But just so you know: I work my ass off to get what I have, and I will continue to do so, until I have everything I want. |

What many people dont understand is that some people either it be an 70 year old adult or 12 year old boy are passionate about fashion. I very much love fashion and my mother fully understands this. Our life is very stable and she can afford to give me little luxuries here and then. I have a job aswell that i take extremely seriously. Even with buying designer items i still go out and enjoy myself. WAKE UP PPL! were not spoiled. i believe life isnt all about bags or clothes even being a collector i still have time to go have fun with friends.

PurseXaXholic: You're right, no one knows the situation of each individual teen. Some are spoiled rotten and expect everything handed to them on a silver platter, courtesy of their parents' credit card. Some work very hard like you just to afford one bag. But hopefully you leave some room and don't spend too much time "working your ass off" to enjoy your youth and be carefree before you have too many other responsibilities to worry about. I'm not going to judge you, but in general, I find it sad that in youth, so much emphasis is placed on these designer goods and it's become harder than ever to fit in and keep up with the Joneses (or I guess the Kardashians now). |

Hahaha, no I don't keep up with the kardashians I am the Kardashians
But, I do have fun and such, hang out with my friends etc. I keep it pretty balanced between work and play. But play for me can be being on the tpf, shopping, playing with my close, shoes and purses, and making up outfits in my head. Its what I enjoy!

Good, I am glad you are able to do those things. I don't mean any hard feelings toward you personally. I am just speaking about what is happening in general.
