Default does family and friends support bag habits?
Just wondering what everyone's family and friends think about their expensive taste?!

Personally- My parents can't stand me spending money on an accessory! Though I would much rather an expensive purse over a shopping spree anyday! So when I buy a new bag, I usually have to hide it.. even though it doesnt deserve to be hidden. My friends don't buy designer things.. I feel like when I come to TPF its a daily release haha.

and you?

My mom used to mock, now she wants to know do I have any bags to give her that I don't want anymore? Heh. I gave her a Kate Spade and 3 Coach bags, and now she wants more. I've created a monster! :P

Wow thats quite generous of you! My mom has a few designers and she keeps using the excuse of, "I didnt have designer bags when I was your age" urghh I keep getting these great comebacks in my head. haha

One small simple word:NO. They just don't understand why I have to spend hundreds on a bag. I've bought my mom designer bags (which she loves) in hoping she would understand or atleast not give me so much crap when I come home w/ a new bag. Nope doesn't work...she makes me feel guilty, so I do & purchase her think to ease the guilt (ie bags, ipod, etc)

My friends and family, including in-laws, are into purses so yes, they are okay with it. My mom started me off with a Gucci when I was 13. And my dad always buys my mom a purse for Christmas every year. This is a tradition which dh follows unless I ask for something else. I don't buy a purse often, mostly admire, and was pleasantly surprised when dh bought me an LV accessory last week to cheer me up.

Eh, not that generous. It was mostly stuff that I had set aside for the day when I finally get up enough nerve to sell on eBay, and none of it was terribly pricey. I was just glad to have the storage space back. There was one Coach bag, though, that she guilted me into giving her because it was her birthday and it was purple leather (we both share an unbridled love for purple handbags). I'd just bought it at the outlet, and ended up having to scout another one down on eBay to replace it after she convinced me to give it to her. LOL Now all my purple bags stay in hiding when she visits!

My family knows that I like purses, but have no idea how much money I spend on them.

My BF knows and while he swears that he sees no difference between my nice bags and the ones that his mother buys at the dollar store, he knows better than to try and tell me what I should or should not buy!

I do have two friends who also really really like purses and I can share my finds with them.

Yeh, all my family and friends all think I am CRAZY on spending hundreds on bags, no matter bh9ow much i try to explain!! Although, when I got a few LV's, my mum couldnt resist geting one either, so she may be coming round!!! Although, cos all my friends are 16, like me, they think it is insane to spend tht much on a bag, when you can get soo much at tht age for the same price!! But, nothing beats a bag!!!

My sisters understand, my brother and uncle take it as a given, my mom doesn't always approve but she loves clothing, handbags, shoes too, and my dad tolerates it all because he's blissfully ignorant of it.

My friends just think I'm crazy but overall not that judgmental -- they spend money on things that I don't so I think we all understand what it's like....

I think most are unaware or indifferent and that's OK. My Mom has great taste and style but is very practical and will not spend tons on bags as I might. We went shopping for a new purse for her the other day and had a blast! But we went to the Gucci boutique at Nordstrom and when I pulled off a gorgeous $1k+ hobo for her to try on which was TDF on her, I could tell she thought "no way," even though she has certainly earned it and my Dad wouldn't bat an eye. She ended up finding a gorgeous black leather kate spade at Loehmann's! She can bargain hunt like nobody's business. I love a good sale too but often don't have the patience anymore.

My friends and I will chat about clothes, shoes, makeup, etc but not so much about bags. So I come to tPF for my fix!

My family knows my love for designer purses, but really don't know how much I spend on them. My boyfriend knows it and supports my habit as long as I use the purses, which I frankly don't buy things I know I won't use. Some of my friends know how much I like purses and sometimes even help find stuff too, and there are others that are not into purses and don't care about them either.
