I first bought a bunch of Coaches as "gateway" bags, but since then they no longer appeal to me. Too common, sometimes tacky, and for some bags way overpriced for what you're getting.
A lot of D&G bags are just too out there for me
90% of canvas monograms (except for LV Damier and my Fendi multicolor tote)
Alexander Wang bags just don't make sense to me. A few are on the tacky side

I got my first monogramed Coach in 2000 with the matching bucket hat. Thought I was the coolest thing on campus at my university. Loved the style and how it made me feel wearing them together. Then I began buying all logo- Gucci, Dior, and my LV speedy that I thought was the most functional purse ever by 2003. Not because I wanted to show off but because logos were a BIG trend 10 years ago and I was addicted. Now, I am so eh, over my bags. I will never get rid of them because they bring me back to my younger days. ah, nostalgia.

The past year I purchased Balenciaga, Alexander Wangs, RM, MJ and MBMJ. No logos in the past 5 years. I love the leather and style of my recent bag purchases. Tastes and styles do change over time.

Buying bags for me is like a coin or antique collector buying an item for their collection. I buy things that I like and make me a lil giddy. Buttery leather in bold unique colors get me excited. I won't buy Coach or MK because I don't like any of their styles or quality of ones I have seen.

But I do HATE FAKES! Why buy a bag to be a part of a so called certain social class when you don't really appreciate the style and legacy of the bag? From what I have observed is people who buy fakes want people to think they are better than everyone else for their own self esteem. I had a coworker constantly say she had her husband fly to So Cal so that he can buy her LV from Beverly Hills. Her LV was so FAKE! The leather was a weird pale taupe color and not the normal honey brown. Bags by owners like her are who I HATE!!

I've been carrying LV for years and it's hard to spot fakes most of the time (easier to spot fakes when I have the real thing to compare it to).
You are so right, I have always been an LV lover, and in the last 8 years, I have collected over 8 bags and I can spot a fake from a mile aways, something I was unable to do before I owned one.

I dislike any of big companies that steal ideas from talented designers in small businesses.
Some of them are border line copyright infringement.

All this D & B hate. I cant take it!!!
I love my D&B leather bags.

But... I truly understand the monogram thing. I loathe monogram anything.

I'm in a little dilemma because I am in love with the LV Empriente Artsy and I just cant do it! Where I live, fake LV's are all around. Its really sad.

I think this is what happens 99.9% of the time; especially with people who don't own LV and don't know the brand. They just assume based on the woman's appearance, car and other external factors. (Sometimes even her ethnicity unfortunately.)

I've seen very well put together women with fakes and women who look not so put together with authentic bags. I can tell the difference because I own LV and I'm obsessed with the brand like many of the other women in the LV forum.

Some specific bags I dislike
Chloe Paddington - Have no idea why it was once an "IT" bag because I find it hideous.
Fendi Spy - Don't really see the appeal of the bag, the handles remind me of a spider
Hermes Lindy- I don't strongly dislike it, but I would never buy this bag because I find it impractical for my needs
Hermes Picotin- The most hideous bag I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate Hermes' heritage and brand and craftsmanship, but that bag looks like a cheap walmart bag.
Coach - Coach bags with monogram (CC)s everywhere just screams cheap to me. I have a all leather Coach tote and the leather is amazing and the logo is just ever so subtle. The monogram bags however, feel and reek of cheapness.
Louis Vuitton (brand) - I appreciate Louis Vuitton and it's heritage (plus it's my favorite brand) , but people who carry LV just for the sake of LV annoys me. And you can usually spot them because they are all pretentious or desperately cry for attention

Negativity aside, I love Balenciaga, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Hermes as a brand in general.

The Fendi Spy handles remind me of a spider. And I'm arachnophobic. And that bag looks hideous!

And I also love how the amounts of fake puts people off. Yes I get disgusted when I spot an obvious fake LV, but it doesn't put me off completely. Just because everyone's running around with fakes doesn't mean I can't buy what I appreciate.
