Smile Cute and Practical Tote for College?
Hey girls! I don't post much on here, but I really need some help! I'll be going to college this fall as a freshman (yay!) and I need a good bag to carry my books and laptop in. I don't want anything flimsy and it needs to be able to hold the weight of the books and laptop....Any ideas? I dont really want anything designer just because I dont want to be too showy, ya know what I mean? And preferably something cheaper because its going to get a lot of wear and tear. I'm really open to anything :) Thanks!!

Hands down, Longchamp. I know people will say you see them everywhere but they are a relatively subtle designer, relatively affordable, and last for AGES. I can vouch for their durability. Plus they come in so many different colors, are waterproof, and easy to clean :)

ETA: Here's a thread with lots more suggestions that may help you out: Totes for school?

I buy a tote every year, I am going to be a senior this year. I have tried longchamp but the handles were too thin and it hurt my shoulder so bad. then I bought the MBMJ pretty hobo in yellow, I love that bag, pretty big and very light. my third was Burberry nylon tote in black, it's great but the handles again were kind of hurting me.

now I am eyeing the poppy collection from Coach, they have really cute totes, so I might buy one from Coach for this year

hope this gives you some suggestions

I've seen these in person and thought they were cute and not too pricey.

I've just bought a Mulberry Roxanne A4 tote and I think it'd be perfect for your needs. Mulberrys are such beautiful quality and it'll last years. It's the perfect size for all your books, laptop etc and is gorgeous, I absolutely love mine. It comes in various colours and leathers, also coated canvas which is super practical. Best of all it's in the sale on Mulberry.com at the moment - down from £595 to £295, I think. Mine's black light natural leather and is my favourite bag (at the moment!).
Have fun bag shopping and good luck with college!

the large longchamp tote, but it WILL show wear. The corners of mine started to rip through and I took it back to Nordstroms 5 months later and they gave me a brand new one!

Might be worth a try ? It comes with a shoulder belt so you could carry it as a messenger.

There are many excellent bag sellers on Etsy, the above seller is just one of many.

I would go for Longchamp too...I've been using mine for 3 yrs now and most of my friends use that too...stylish, yet cute! They have basic colors (Brown, Navy, Red, Black, etc.), but you can have fun with some of the brighter colors too like lime green, pink, etc.

i completed my part-time studies this spring and now i realised i bought many bags for schools, namely they are a few le pliage longchamp, fabric body and leather strap ferragamo and 2 coach, 1 signature and 1 in plain leather..but they all survived. I tend to overcarry things..hehe.
