I haven't read this thread so sorry if I'm off target. Whatever bag you get, make sure that it's STURDY. I just weighed my crim pro book and it weighs six pounds! That book alone plus my laptop easily tops ten pounds

i also go to law school and i use a black longchamp XL shopper...it's actually very thick material, and has thick straps so you can wear it on your shoulder comfortably and holds it shape and has a zipper on top.. it holds my 13inch macbook including folders and a very large textbook or two smaller textbooks..i also can fit my sunglass case, my wallet, power cord, and a few small zippered pouches for pens, etc. It also has an inner zipper compartment which is good for small items. Basically it has a TON of space and holds up very well..it is a lot stronger than the typical longchamp bags. It cost about $265 from Saks, but in my opinion was worth every penny, i use it everyday without a problem.

I think one of Tory Burch's totes or if you could find (on sale) a Marc Jacobs Carter tote in black leather would be great.

My SO is in law school and I know you'll need a HUGE bag. He usually carries a backpack, but lately he's been using a leather messenger with built-in laptop case by Tod's.

Law school was a while back for me (gosh, I was a 1L in 1999!) and I cannot remember what I carried - itwas before I discovered designer handbags so I'm going to guess a backpack?? I honestly can't remember but i do know that when I graduated I picked out a Dooney triple gusset briefcase in black alto leather as my grad gift - used it to carry my Barbri books!
