Default Are money clips used anymore?
I still see them advertised, but is there really a market for them?

I know several guys who still use card holder/money clip combos. No women though.

Heh, I've never seen anyone around me, men and women, use them. Card holders? Yes. Clips? No. It's all wallets and bags. I have a money clip that I merely use as a paper clip.

In that one clip commercial when the guy says his wallet is a pain in the butt, literally, my husband says that's not true, his big leather wallet doesn't bother him when he sits on it! So I don't think there is a market for it, besides buying wallets & handbags is soooo much more fun! :)

Both my husband and my father complain about pain from sitting on their wallets, so I do think it's an issue for a lot of men. They're not switching to clips though, they just put up with it or if driving a long distance they take it out of their back pants pocket.

I've only seen elderly men with money clips these days, I don't think they're in fashion anymore.

My dbf has a moneyclip which I bought him..he prefers money clips because they don't create as much of a bulge in the pants(though I guess some guys might appreciate that effect). He clips his money on one side, and his cards fit into the single card slot..I think it looks a bit messy, : P

I know one man and one woman who use money clips. For someone who claims it helps keep her organized, she crams money, cards, receipts and everything else into it and shoves it in her little purse.

Lol, I suppose it is, maybe it doesn't bother my hubby because his wallet is so supple & broken in, it comfroms to his bum I guess!

oh wait..and I forgot to mention..my dbf wears his moneyclip/wallet on the front..that is why it would "enhance" things..not like guys would enjoy having one cheek more enhanced than the other...

I know a lot of men who use them, in fact more use money clips than wallets, but then I am in a unique area where all the men are pretty much fashionistas.

Wow, maybe I'm just familiar with one kind of money clip, the magnetic pincher that just holds something in the middle-cash and no other side for cards or anything else. If the middle is for both cards an cash, I can imagine what the strength of the magnets would have to be. I did see one that was different on an As Seen on TV ad, and it had another side for credit cards, but it didn't look fashion-related, more utilitarian only.

My SO prefers the wallet to the money clip, and he can keep his coins, cash, and cards in it easily, but he often suffers from a numb buttock from it and often has to take his wallet out to get the feeling back. He doesn't like the money clip.

DoreenJoy, I didn't know money clips are more about fashion than wallets. Interesting.

I probably didn't explain that well. I think money clips are from a slightly more elegant era. Kind of like a string of round pearls.
