Gerard Darel has a nice hobo this season -- it's called the Barcelona, check it out on the website.

Wish you could find their bags easier in the USA. The bags they have in France are amazing (and more affordable)!

small bump..

I just recently acquired a 24 Hour GD Hobo and I love it!! I wasn't expecting to get one on my Europe trip but I ended up at Printempts in Paris and saw there stand.. and the rest is history! Actually my Fiance liked it so much he told me I had to get it.

I got the the olive green colored one in the REALLY soft lamb leather. It actually is very remeniscent of the leather on my balenciaga bags but to be honest, I think the leather on my new GD bag is better. No veining/ distressing, but subtle texture differences on the surface.

The leather is so soft and lightweight, I would have to say it's the softest leather I've ever felt. The SA told me that most of these bags are made with Cow hyde but this particular collection was made with lamb leather. I *think* it's called the Salvador collection. They had the Navy Blue, light Grey and Green in stock.. I really loved all 3 colors but ended up with the Green one since Green is my favorite color. I have already started to research where I can buy more but I can't find ANY Salvadore bag for sale. The only ones I see are St Germaine & Barcelona. I am all about the Salvador bags

I will do a reveal in the next few days but I wanted to add my 2 cents here first.

If anyone.. ANYONE... knows where to get any of the Salvador bags online or a boutique that will send, please let me know. I am looking for the Dark Blue & Gray in particular.

On a side note:

The website says "Cuir Vegetal" under the style. I know that Cuir means leather and I think Vegetal means Vegetable, but what does that means all together? Vegetable dyed leather?

HisGeekyGrrl - Bloomingdales now sells it! I don't know if that helps. They are the cowhide ones and they feel tough. I wasn't impressed but they have the color that what's her name in your picture is wearing! (Sorry, I can't remember her name!)

^ I wasn't impressed by the tougher ones either but the softer lamb ones are out of this world

I think I read somewhere that they had a Chevre version as well but perhaps it's the same bag that I am referring to...

ETA: Can you post an exact link? I can't find any GD bags on Bloomingdales. Thanks!

That's interesting! They don't show them on the website but they had them in the stores. I would love to see a lambskin one. I think that would finally end my quest for the bag I am looking for!!!

Which Bloomies were you at? Yeah, I know I sound like a broken record but the softer ones which I am 95% sure are called the Salvadore line, are so wonderful. Think '05 Balenciaga leather without any veins =)

The one on Long Island in New York and I know you are right! It IS called the Salvadore. It seems the French refer to it as vegetable leather. I would soooo love to find one and I wouldn't be picky what color! If you find out about where I can buy it in NY I would be most appreciative. I'm telling you though the one's here @ Bloomies are very thick strong leather. In time they feel like they can break in but I am so looking for lambskin. I have been considering Prada, BV and Bal. GD is much less money and would satiate my desire for a lambskin bag!!!

I'd guess that GD bags are as frantically popular as ever in France. I'm in France just now and see several every day. Our summer house is in a southern French town that has a handbag store that has recently started carrying GD bags. That probably explains why I've been seeing so many lately. Also, I agree wth the poster who compared GD leather favourably to Balenciaga. My GD St Germain 24 Heures is made of calfskin which is beautifully smooth and very stain-resistant (DH splashed part of an Indian meal on my GD a few months ago and the marks were gone within minutes, after cleaning!) Although my Bal Twiggy is made of agneau leather, the veins make it very different in appearance from my GD. Since my new autumn clothes are mostly in shades of blue, purple and grey, my choice of Periwinkle Blue for my first GD has turned out to be perfect. GD bags are great!

^^Wow, so GD bags are still hot in France? I have a few and they've held up really well. I love the larger sized bags tho the 36 and 48 hours which seem much harder to find in the USA.

It's practically impossible. I'd call the UK store. Gary was the manager and I got my two pythons from him directly. I'd bought two pythons from ShopRumor and they took MONTHS to get them to me after making me pay up front. I'll see if I still have Gary's email, otherwise calling is the easiest option. I got mine within 3 days of ordering, if I recall correctly.
