Jully, I'm French too and I assure you that there are Balenciaga's stores :) If you go to Paris, you can always go to the Galeries Lafayette or Printemps, they have a Balenciaga stand there
And you can touch them !For the GD bags, nowadays, I think that more than half of the population of Paris have one GD. You see them everywhere, especially on student girls. I actually use the Midnight for school, and it's a perfect school bag ^o^ |

I just got back from a week and Paris and actually came back with a GD 36 hours bag. I wasn't expecting to, but my DH loved them and got me one. Lots and lots of women were using the 24 hrs. bag --- all over the Metro there.
And yes, lots of Balenciaga outposts in Paris -- one stand alone store on George V, and smaller boutiques in Printemps and Galleries Lafayette. |

I hadn't seen these bags until a month ago. Do they carry them in the US?

Gerard Darel bags are still really popular here in Paris but not as much as it used to be 2 years ago. Moreover, there are more and more popular bags from Gerard Darel and so it's easy to find one that not everybody has (colour, size, pockets, leather, style...)

I personally would never buy one, they're not my style and quite frankly they're a little dull looking.

They're dull but they're oh-so-classy and understated.
I'm not in France. I was dining in a French restaurant. Beside our table was a table of 4 French women. One of them was carrying the 24hrs in white. I was amused because we don't have a boutique here and I thought I was the only person in my country to have GD bags. I wanted to ask but she wasn't too friendly so I didn't. Only when they were about to leave, I saw how beautiful this bag is! She was wearing a shirt dress, wedges and with this bag, it completed her look. Simple yet understated chic. I'm going to hug my GD bags in a while. Still can't use them yet, as I need bigger bags, but they're beautiful in their own ways, and finally today, I saw one in real life (beside mine; I do think she carried it so much more beautifully than me). |

IMO GDs in France are what Chloes are in the UK. (Just a bit more boring - did I say that? I didn't say that)
My Mum's French friends (mostly S.France, obviously older) all go to Italy and buy Valentino. Don't ask, I don't know why either My mum (also S.France) carries any CHANEL that doesn't really look 'CHANEL' - and I can't work that one out either. |

I concur. Almost every other woman in Paris carries a GD, mostly the 24h. And, they all look so chic! I just got the 36h satchel and it's a very comfy bag to wear for sure! It's my first GD and I am already planning out my next...
