I love the old Michael Cromer Munchen (MCM) handbags. These were very popular as higher-end handbags, and could be found in major dept. stores awhile back. I remember they were made in Germany, and had styles VERY SIMILAR to classic Louis Vuitton and vintage Fendi.
I saw a few on the Bloomies website....wow, the style has definitely changed.
I prefer the older styles with the classic cognac and white and blue patterns.
I believe the company underwent an unheaval of sorts a few years back, and it seems they are trying to make a comeback in the states ( I had ALOT of trouble trying to find new ones here about 4-5 years ago). They made a great speedy type bag that came with the shoulder strap....i loved this bag.
I hope they regain popularity without losing their previous upscale image !!
Sort of reminds me of the Alviero Martini Prima Classe bags....no longer in high-end dept. stores, pretty much only available in European cities near Italy......I miss those too.
As so many others before me have said, they're now being sold at Bloomingdale's. I saw on them their website recently and I was wondering about them, as I didn't recognize the label. I'll give them some serious consideration now that I know a little more about them. They look quite nice!
I love my MCM clutch! I use it all the time. I just saw an older man (seriously 75+!) walking down a residential street in Beverly Hills with a classic MCM waist bag in the same color as mine... so funny!
I was just on the Intermix.com website, and saw a pretty MCM purse on SALE!!! I had an MCM purse that I bought in New Jersey almost 20 years ago... I don't get rid of purses that I love anymore.... I'm saving them all for my grandchildren!!! (haha)
