The Dooney bourke florentine Vacchetta bucket is the one my mom had, she absolutely loved that bag, but unfortunately had to return it because she went over on her card. She's the owner of her own salon so money is a little tight right now, she's just getting up and running almost a year now and she just added tanning beds.
I'm really hoping to get her that bag for Christmas this year, I know she'll be so happy!

That's a swell idea! Have you checked Dooney.com? I think they might be on sale! It's worth a shot!

finally got around to it. i forgot about bag that i regularly use. oh well!!

i don't use some of these cause they aren't really my style anymore or were bought as gifts for me.

this is what i'm currently using

of these pleasantly tacky bags, i only claim two of them as my own purchases. the ice pops one and the green one

It's so nice to see people posting about Dooney and Bourke. I had a huge collection of them from 2002-2006 but ended up having to sell them to try to pay my mortgage. :( I'm currently starting to collect them again. I'll attach pictures of the only two pieces I currently have.

I went shopping yesterday, and I now have a Dooney & Bourke wish list. I also watched their 10th anniversary special on QVC over the weekend, they have some amazing new stuff.

they have a tartan line of bags but i'm iffy on them. i like the patterns but the actual shapes for the bags are nothing great.

coach has released some too and theirs are a bit more interesting. i still on the fence about coach though but i'd be way more inclined to buy a coach one rather than D&B

There actually was a Dooney category, but it was closed because there wasn't enough interest. I'm glad that you posted this thread.

I used to have several Dooney's years ago, in fact, Dooney was my first "designer" bag that I ever purchased. Over the years my style has changed and I no longer own any Dooney's.

I really like the quality of some of Dooney's all leather bags and wallets. The only Dooney that I currently own is a couple of their key chains.

^ Dooney was my first bag too! :) I still love them, but slowly my love is decreasing and turning over to Coach, I feel kind of bad. I used to have so many D&B's but I sold most of them on eBay to earn extra cash to pay for bills, and I really regret that I sold them, I miss them! I love the new lines of bags they came out with here lately. If I had extra cash to spend I would buy another. I almost bought a cosmetic bag from Macy's on Monday, but instead I cheated and headed over to Coach.

I still think D&B deserves the same recognition as Coach though, their just as great and at such good prices. Especially for their 10th Anniversary, everything was on sale.

Sorry for the double posting, but I had a D&B inspiration folder I found on my comp and I have to share these pictures.
And No I didn't take these, their just pictures I've collected over time b/c I used to have a pretty big D&B fetish

D&B has a special place in my heart because it's what my mom has carried as long as I've been aware of the label on her bags (usually enormous totes to and from work). I grew up near the original flagship store in Connecticut, so I imagine that's how she picked up the label. I also have an affection for their mallard duck because my father has always kept this huge, atrocious wooden figurine of a mallard duck on his dresser. He has a sentimental attachment to the eyesore, but I have a sentimental attachment to him, so the mallard icon charms me!

Anyway, I've been toying with, considering, agonizing over the Juliette bag in the nylon collection: http://www.dooney.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCt...13&beginIndex= (Or a better view at Zappos: http://www.zappos.com/dooney-bourke-...ag-brown-tmoro).

I think it would make a good bag for travel, and I spend a lot of time running across train stations and waiting in airport terminals, especially going into the holidays and through the spring, for work. I broke out in a big, goofy grin when I touched the totally plush nubuck version of the same bag in Macy's a few weeks ago, but nubuck isn't really ideal for commuting in New York or cross-country transit.

I guess I'm hesitating because I wonder if I should just get a cheaper nylon or canvas tote in a department store or at Target, and put the savings toward a nicer bag; either one in leather or a higher-end label. Is it worth it to invest in a designer version of such a casual bag?

I wish it had feet. That would set it apart from, say, leSportSac, which is a brand that I like, though I want something a bit different.

I'd say buy a D&B rather than a bag from a store like Kohls or Target, b/c the quality is so much better and you can count on it to last for quite some time. My mom has carried the same D&B for a couple of years and it has never let her down and is still in excellent condition. She also uses one to carry her paper work and such back and forth to work, and when that bag is full...that sucker is heavy! But the straps are still in tact!

I'd go with a D&B or my other love Coach :)

Btw the Juliette your looking at is insanely gorgeous. I love it in purple!!!!
