Hi, could someone please let me know the best waterproof product to use on Nappa Leather. I have two Chlos Saskia messenger bags that have really soft nappa leather on sides and base and would like to know what to use to waterproof and protect them and what to clean them with. This leather seems so soft and porus that I'm a little nervous about what I use!

My fiancee has bought two nappa leather purses, and we're trying to figure out the best way to care for them, and have a couple of questions.

For the first one, she used Clean & Care and Special Wax (all of the products I'm referring to come from Collonil, if I'm keeping this straight). Should she do anything further at this point?

We have also now purchased Ultra Cream and Leather Gel. For the new one: should she use all of these? In what order? Everyone seems to agree that waterproofing should come before the cream, because without it the cream could dull the shine or darken the color, yes?

Is Special Wax breathable? How about Ultra Cream?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I got LUST FOR LIFE
I'm not familiar with the brands you mention.

I personally don't treat my untreated lambskin at all, and I definitely wouldn't use a product containing silicone or other plastics.

If you use the search feature, you might find other threads on lambskin care. Good luck!

Some good advice here. Silicon is never good for lambskin so make sure the products you are talking about dont have silicon in them. Although Nappa is not always made from lamb! it can also be from Kid or adult sheep which will be a little more durable.

Thre are great all in one products out there for nappa, where the protection element comes from flurocarbon rather than silicon. Try LTT leathercare in UK, THBS everyday protect or if your in Australia maybe "Pelle Care" have a product for you.

I personally wouldn't use any water proofer. Just use leather conditioner.

So I just bought a shoe, with what appeared to be made from nappa leather. It is originally soft/matte textured. colour is black.

after treating it with bally leather lotion/conditioner (the shoe is armani), waiting until it settled, and wiping it off, the leather is now shiny/polished.

What have I done wrong? Should I use cream instead? or no need to treat/condition the leather at all?
If I don't condition the leather, wouldn't it eventually get brittle and crack? Is having it shiny inevitable? Or am I just using the wrong product?

Anything I can do about it now?
