What exactly is GUCCI Plus?

I've seen some bags with the word PLUS written across the GG monogram, are they even real Gucci?

and the girls say it was real - it was the first time I have seen this PLUS

same here, I've actually seen one but I was looking for a serial number and there's none. So it seems shady to me...

I called an outlet and one of the SA mentioned the bag being Gucci plus print..wondered what that was myself...

GG plus is the name given to their coated canvas. The material is really similar to LV's monogram canvas.

The shiny, laminated, plasticy-looking bags are made of GG crystal fabric. Most of their luggage pieces and messenger bags, as well as the Joy collections are made of GG plus.

My new Gucci....modelled :)

that's mine - i have the duchessa in the coated crystal fabric. it is lovely and easy to keep clean.

i do prefer my classic fabric purse and bag though.

found this thread via the search engine while looking for info on the GG plus fabric. does this means that it is somewhat water resistant ? i'm put off by all the gucci fabric bags as i'm concerned on the maintanence of the fabric. thus , the GG plus fabric looks rather promising to me...

Gucci plus is coated fabric so it's water resistant. These are the bags I use when it's raining or when I travel with the kids. Not the most stylish bags, but very very practical :)

In the 70's & 80's the Gucci Plus line was a more 'durable, stronger' coated canvas than the normal canvas they used then. It was thought to be more desirable because it was of "higher quality and would last longer". (I believe, and I could be wrong here, that Paolo Gucci was the family member who came up with Gucci Plus when he was trying to break away from the family and start his own accessory collection...keep in mind that Paolo Gucci also wanted the Gucci brand to be sold in grocery stores

...lol)
I wasn't aware that they are still using the 'Plus' fabrics - cool.
