I had some reservations about the New Jackie when they first came out, but all of that has melted away.
First, as some of you know, Gucci lowered the price on some New Jackies this season by making them less detailed; these don’t have as much hand-woven leather stitching as the earlier ones. Second, the size issue. The dimensions listed for the large size online are intimidating, and the bag does look huge when stuffed with tissue paper sitting on the shelf. However, I’d urge anyone considering the bag to try it on unstuffed. The leather is incredibly soft and light and drapey. It slouches down and collapses into itself when on the shoulder. Really, the size just looks similar to any other larger hobo, and I am only 5’4”. This puddle of delicious leather is really a departure for me, because most of my bags are more structured and handheld. But it’s just so Gucci sexy! I love it. Here’s my black New Jackie, along with my other Gucci bags, a dark brown New Pelham shoulder bag and a green Wave Boston bag. |

OMG! TDF - heaven
![]() Totally true what you say "First, as some of you know, Gucci lowered the price on some New Jackies this season by making them less detailed; these don’t have as much hand-woven leather stitching as the earlier ones" when I tried both types on I honestly preferred the way the bags WITHOUT the hand stitching looked on me. I'm medium sized - although I'm sure the other Jackies would look great on taller or larger lady. Congratulations - beauty forever!!! |

Beautiful bag Cosmo! I have been on the search for the perfect black bag but have never given this bag a second look. Now after your post I think I may just have to check it out. I love the bambu tassels and tried the big tote but am hoping that bag will go on sale. Thanks for posting and congratulations on your new beauty!!!!!

Thanks for the review on this bag. I do get intimidated a lot of the times when I see the dimensions listed. The leather looks yummy!
And love the Wave boston bag!

Love the black jackie. It looks very elegant and streamlined without the woven details in the black leather, and the bamboo tassles give the perfect contrast

Thank you llson, papertiger, GGLOVER33, shopingisfun, Bagladee, love2shop_26, ChiChi143, mk78, windycityaj, **Chanel**, and mona_danya.
![]() Papertiger and mk78, I agree with you on the detailing. The versions with the additional handwoven stitching look more casual and "boho" to me, but this pared-down version seems more elegant and chic. Shopingisfun, I think Gucci made the Wave Bostons like mine in green in 2005-2006. If you search on "Wave Boston" you can find some old threads. I think its sort of a classic style that Gucci brings back from time to time(?), so you never know. Bagladee, I've seen your collection and I bet that you'd be comfortable with the size of this Jackie, given the size of your other bags. Check it out!

p.s. -- As a Yves Saint Laurent lover, I wanted to point out that the measurements of the New Jackie are very similar to YSL's hot new hobo, the Roady. Yet to me, the Jackie is more appealing because its not one big unbroken expanse of leather like the Roady; the toggle clasp, tassels, etc., make it more interesting.
