I was looking at a gorgeous jackie handbag in ostrich on the Gucci website but just couldn't bring myself to spend $6990 plus tax on the bag. I still wanted to find some info on the ostrich leather as I've always admired it but don't own any bags made from it. While searching around on line I stumbled on a listing from yoogis closet for a pre-owned but in 'like new' condition bardot handbag in ostrich with a price tag more to my liking, $1375. I've never bought from yoogis closet , though I did research them and was comfortable with what I found, and I rarely buy pre-owned bags but I'm hoping this turns out to be a pleasant experience. Does anyone have an idea what year/season this bag is from? Possibly Tom Ford era? I've attached pic of the bag I was considering new from the Gucci site and the bag from yoogis. TIA for any info on the bardot bag or thoughts/opnions on the purchase!

Very hard to date without seeing the inside especially on a classic model but the corners look 2005/6 (so post Tom Ford). Frida was in charge of the bags and accessories from 2002 whilst TF was still Creative Director so if it's important to have a 'Tom Ford bag' you would have to search for a much earlier model, (1996-2002) most of those bags tend to be 'anonymous' black bags with not much hardware (well it was the era of minimalism ).

Gucci ostrich is fabulous and will last a lifetime and the Bardot is a classic (the current Stirrup line is based on the Bardot)

I looked for the bag on Yoogis to see the inside pics but I couldn't find it listed, does this mean it's on hold ?

No, I did purchase it so it has probably been taken off the site? I did save the page to my favorites and here is the link:

Not sure if it will work...

I kind of found this bag in a roundabout way. I started looking at the Gucci pre-sale and almost bought a brown 'ride' bag but was not 100% crazy about the shade, too light for my taste. Then I checked the Gucci bags on sale at Nieman Marcus and they had the ride in winter leaf metallic which I loved. However, when I considered what I currently have in my collection, almost all my bags are satchel, hand held or carry on the arm and I decided I really needed a shoulder bag. I wanted something that could go from casual to slightly dressy, minimal amount of hardware and a timeless style. I decided on the ostrich leather because it adds a touch of luxe to the casual design of a shoulder bag but the price for the jackie was more than I wanted to spend. Yoogis has a good return policy so if this doesn't turn out to be as nice as expected, it can always go back.

^ I see that it says it has sold now but perhaps it will be returned

Looking at the tag I'll stick to my original date estimate, lovely bag altogether. The Bardot is one of the few classic Guccis I don't have but I would love one, this is a great example at an amazing price. BTW the hole in the tag means it went straight to outlet, maybe there was a slight flaw but much more likely it was a sample piece (which also means it would be one of a kind - lucky buyer)

I know what you mean about shoulder bags, they have to have a little 'something' to spice them up and the skin would have been ideal.

Oh excellent, so pleased for you, I cant wait either, I really hope it lives up to its online presence . I had read your last post incorrectly and thought you missed out on it, I am not a natural multitasker to say the least .

I was also thinking because of the size it will make a nice casual evening or occasion bag too, so well done!!!

Papertiger, I had the same thought on the size. That was another consideration when I bought it, I tend to favor larger day bags and they really don't transition well for a night out. I really needed to get out of my 'satchel/tote' rut and I hope this bag is a keeper!!

I like it. The color will go with a million things and it looks like it's in really good condition. Post pics when it arrives?

I'll definitely post some pics! i love the chocolate brown color. The second issue with the ostrich jackie ( beside the steep $$$) was I couldn't find the exact shade of brown I wanted. They had a dark chocolate jackie but it was suede. I think the light gold hardware against the dark brown is a great combo.

The bag arived yesterday and I am very happy with the purchase. The shipping was very quick and the bag was packaged nicely. The leather is gorgeous, not sure the pics do it justice. I've looked the bag over very carefully and can't find a single, even minor flaw, so no idea why it went directly to an outlet. the leather seems well chosen as all the sides, bottom etc are evenly covered with the orstrich markings, all the stitching is perfect and the hardware works perfectly. Overall, a great experience with yoogi's closet. I've added a few pics, one of the bag as it is normally carried and one with the sides out, which gives the bag a whole different look.

I love the Ostrich, I don't have one in Gucci but I do in Chanel and there is just something so special about having one plus they are very easy to take care of, although I don't use mine since it is vintage and a very rare color I am keeping it in Mint condition so I can re sell it for a lot of money down the road.
