I've never seen that design before. Perhaps you can bring it in the Authenticate this Gucci thread because there's something curious about the bag and the experts on that thread can chime in.

I think it might be a 1950s croc bag. It won't have a name just a model number. Obviously, the seller knows nothing about the bag. If I was you I would send pics to Christies Auction House for a valuation (they are owned by Gucci Group) they should be able to tell you more about the bag esp the value. Alternatively, contact someone at the Gucci museum in Florence. Certainly there wont be many around as Gucci was only in Italy at that point. I will try to do some more research for you but not this week.

Thanks again for your help. I was mistaken & it did not have the webstripe detail. It is the same style as this one, but the gold trim is actually in the metallic deeper purple with gold undertones. Good thing I am not a sketch artist as my memory clearly was not correct!

If I knew how to insert my own photos saved on my computer to the site, I would add them as it looks so much better in purple!

Don't worry our minds plays tricks on is sometimes. Even if it's not with web-stripe it will be around the same year. You will also see mini ones little crescents and dragon-heads (with or without a web-stripe) from the same season.

There is a general ref thread with how to post pics somewhere if need be for next time, it's not difficult, just make sure the pics are not too big in resolution and size .
