Default My page pumps have been ruined...

Somehow, I noticed during the weekend, before I took them to the cobbler to get rubber soles on them, there was this grey stain that had gone into the leather and I can't remove it. You can see the grain of the leather in the areas that have been stained. After taking them to the cobbler, there are now more of these exact same grey stains and they're unremovable.

I've read that there is nothing that can be done about patent, but I really don't know how these stains got there in the first place. I didn't place them near anything that could transfer color onto the shoe. Though when I took them to the cobbler, I placed them in a bag containing 2 pairs of other shoes (black Chanel and brown Ferragamo), so could that possibly be the cause? I've been storing these pumps for months with other shoes and there wasn't any color transfer at all, it doesn't really make sense to me. I don't think other leathers can transfer color all that easily, and besides the stain was the exact same color, so could it be some sort of a defect of the shoe?

I'm really disappointed, especially since I bought them at full price. These are the most comfortable heels I've ever worn and I've only worn them 3 times.

What should I do? An exchange is out of the question because I bought them in December and I've already applied rubber soles, and apparently there isn't any way to get rid of the stains. I know, they're meant to be worn, but it really bothers me. There are stains on the side, the tip and the back of the shoe.

Thanks in advance for any help, sorry for the long post.

I wonder what it could have been as well. Those shoes are really cute too. Do you think gucci will clean them for you?

Thanks for the response. I don't Gucci will clean them because I've read stains that have gone in on patent leather aren't removable...

But I honestly don't know what could have caused this. Surely the shoes I placed the page pumps with didn't transfer color, otherwise it would have been a darker color (black or brown). Maybe this is a defect?

I'm so sorry this happened to your shoes and I don't have any advice either... Did they come with their own special dustbags? I thought maybe the patent leather ones came with the dustbags with the white cotton like lining.

I'm wondering if the soles of the bottom of the other shoes rubbed up against it.

gucciabbery I'm so sorry that this has happened! That's really really odd. I have a pair of patent cream stillettos which I have had for 3/4 of a year and have worn them heaps and heaps! They're my most comfy Gucci's and my favourite and being the klutz I am they are still perfect, no marks and look brand new.

It seems really really odd that you have those marks on yours. Besides what jill said, I wouldn't have an idea what to do. Sorry. :(

I went to Gucci today and they said there's nothing that can get the stains out. I didn't have the shoes with me, maybe I should take it to them next time? But the SA said that there's nothing they can do about it.

The spots stand out so much on the white patent, I can't bear to look at the shoes. I mean, they're meant to be worn, but they were expensive! And I only wore them a few times. Maybe I might try white nail polish on the stains, and see if that works out.

Don't know if this helps, but I have friend who told me that nail polish remover will remove stains from patent leather. Found the following on this website:
You can remove scuff marks from patent leather shoes by rubbing with a little egg white. Leave to dry, and then polish as usual.
