Joy Boston with crystal GG fabric and dark gold trim

Hi everyone-

I had purchased a medium joy with the gunmetal trim, and I had a problem with color transfer and then peeling handles. I returned that to my Gucci store without any problem for a new one, but the trim started to peel on the edges of this one too. So I went back to Gucci today, and my SA said that some people have no problems at all, while many others have had a problem with the gunmetal trim. I looked at the pre-sale items, but I really loved the shape of this bag, so I went for the new joy boston with the crystal GG fabric and dark gold leather trim from the fall collection. The SA said that this trim is much more durable than the gunmetal trim, so I took my chances, and he said if I had any problems to bring it back.

What do you think of this bag? The fabric is a little shiny, but it spoke to me in the store, and now I have to decide if I should keep it or not. It really is quite striking, but it has a different look than my other bag. Any opinions would be appreciated!

I like it! I really like the stripes going down the middle, the color conbo is good :) The crystal GG frabic is great, I have a cosmetic bag in that and I can literally trash it and it still looks new. (waterproof, spill proof...)

I love this bag!! I was in your same shoes......bought the joy boston in gunmetal and the tag on the front came off. I was so nervous hearing about the peeling and wrinkling of the trim that I opted to exchange it for this bag. It is gorgeous!! I've been using it all week and it seems that the shine has died down some. I think it's very unique and it just looks hot in this bag. Kind of like a patent and the gold is just stunning against the material. It goes with everything and I get a lot of compliments.

girlsgottoshop - could you be able to take a pic for us to see? I bet it's gorgy! TIA!!! My boutique had this item on the very top shelf and I forgot to ask my SA if i could see it. He even mentioned it to me but I was so drawn to the guccissima one that I forgot.

I saw it yesterday and loved it especially the coated fabric - it was thicker than thought and also loved the color of the trim. I would like to get it someday.

I bought a joy bag in black with brownish metallic trimming and handle and just got it last march....had to return it because material was peeling off. So you better be careful,what a waste for such a pricey bag.

Thanks for your input. I think it's time to take it out of its dustbag! The picture is on the Gucci site under new fall handbags, if anyone wants to take a peak! I would post a direct link, but I don't know how to do that.

Do you think the gold is good for the summer? I had loved the silver color of the gunmetal trim for the summer, and this seemed more fall.winter, but I guess that's because I wear more silver in the summer! It's not like I don't have other silver handbags to use!

I think gold is great for summer........to me, it is a year round bag. I'm also going to get the new one with the web stripe down the front. It's due in any day now. I honestly think the gunmetal one looks more fall, but that's just my opinion.

This is a totally different leather on this one. Gucci recognized the problem with the patent metallic and they're not doing it anymore.....per the manager at the boutique I shop at who exchanged mine with no problem whatsoever. If I were you, I'd take yours in and exchange it out.

Are you suggesting to keep the new one with the gold trim or to exchange it? My SA said that the gold leather is treated differently and should not peel.

NO, KEEP IT!!! I was talking to omapril about her bag....black with brown metallic trim....she said in her above post that it's peeling. I have the gold bag that you're talking about......the brand new one. The manager at Gucci told me the same thing......this one is better and shouldn't peel. You can tell....the leather is completely different and more supple. I've been using mine for about a week and it's softening up...no creases and the shine has toned down. I LOVE it!!!

i have a few gucci bags and the problem that i have with all my gucci bags were the peeling from the straps but the good thing is that they do have a warranty for straps. just bring it in to any gucci store and they will ship it out and replace it with new straps. only problem is that the process takes about 6 weeks. hope that helps.
