Default Is it okay to Scotchguard my Gucci?

I know there's probably a thread on this but without the search function, I won't be able to find it. I recently got the Abbey hobo in sand mono at the Nordies sale. I've never owned a canvass bag and I'm a little paranoid about dye transfer from my jeans or just the bag getting accidentally wet. Is it pre-treated or should I spray some scotchguard on the canvass areas? Is that safe?

for gucci canvas I wouldn't be super worried. I just clean the leather straps once in a while... I never had a problem with dye transfer as long as you take care of your bag on an everyday bases :)

can the treatment be done DIY? Just spray? any skills involved or need to cover the leather straps before spraying or can the straps be sprayed too? TIA

I just spray mine outside and leave it in a well ventilated area for a few hours. Do not spray too close to the bag (like in one spot in particular). I just "mist."

PS..I went into the gucci store (the gardens) and asked if this was safe and they basically gave me a nasty look and were like..why would you even do something like that..we don't recommend that, blah blah. Now they have nicer people working in there but seriously, I want to protect my bags! Hello..hurricane/rainy season coming up! I asked the SA at gucci nyc and she told me it was totally fine to spray carefully.

I Scotchguard my Flora canvas horsebit hobo and it's perfectly safe. No running of colors or anything like that.

I have dye from my jeans on my hobo bag, and I rubbed the fabric. A few of the fibers were lose. I pulled them, and it is very visible. I think it is going back in the dust bag. It is my only fabric Gucci bag. My other Gucci bag is Guccissima leather. It is delicate too. The corners of my Abbey are worn, and I've only had it a year. I take it out when it absolutely compliments my outfit. I think I'll do that with my bamboo ring hobo fabric bag from now on.
