Help with 1st Gucci purchase!

Hi everyone! My too sweet for words husband is buying me my 1st Gucci for my upcoming birthday & I have my choice narrowed down to two bags: the Pelham and the horsebit hobo. I love the canvas but am concerned about "wear and tear" from daily use, even with the TLC these bags deserve. Am I better off with leather? Finally, has anyone experienced problems with the pelham straps stretching? Thanks so much for your help!

Oooh, that's exciting!

I remember a similar scenario- For my first Gucci I picked out two purses and DH went to the boutique at Nordstrom and chose the one he liked best. That way it was still a surprise!

The canvas is a great choice- it maintains it's condition pretty well. I would lean towards the hobo because it's a great size and style, though. Can't go wrong with black leather! There are two other great versions of a hobo you might consider- the Signoria and the Sabrina.

Is there anyway you could get both bags???

I have a Pelham and absolutely adore it! The only problems I have had w/ wear are on the very bottom corners. I have had it about 18 months and carried for almost a year solid (before I found Chanel and Marc Jacobs...ha ha). Anyway it is minimal wear and tear. My straps have not stretched at all. Conrats!

I have to say I like the Pelham myself and never had any issues with it. It's no longer with me but with a fellow TpFr.. Maybe she'll come along and give her input.

I have the large chain hobo and my only gripe about the bag is that it turns into a big black hole. It is hard to find things in. What about guccissima? That should hold up really well. I haven't had problems with my canvas bags, but I have 5 and I'm always changing out bags.

Ohhhh what great choices you have. The canvas holds up very well and is very durable. I love the look of both bags, but for my own personal tast, i like the chain hobo more. I think it just all comes down to what feels right to you. Gucci's leather is very nice too!

exactly the same with my 2 years old black pelham

Thanks for the input everyone! Up til now I've been a strictly LV girl & am very excited about joining the world of Gucci. I'm still torn as to the style, so I think the pressure is on my husband -- he's purchased all my LVs so far & has excellent taste.
