Mmm, well, I have a budget for roughly 1500-2000. I'm buying this for my mom, she LOVES burberry, prefers larger bags, whether top handle or shoulder strap. She also loves showing off whatever brand she's carrying/wearing, she doesn't see the point of spending $$$ and being overly subtle about it.
Couple that I've looked at and thinks she might like (pulled descriptions right off of website) :
Also, if Gucci makes a bag similar to the Trevi by LV, definitely let me know as well :) Thanks! |

The Jockey and the Pelham sound like great choices from what you say. I can't really choose between either for preference.
Does it have to be a big surprise or could you both have a day out where she can try on both bags to compare? |

Well I took her out today to try out bags, and the Large Pelham (white straps) looked great on her! Does this bag ever go on sale (I know they have sales in December some time)?
My friend's sister has this bag, and he described it as "faded". For those of you that have it, how long have you had it, how often do you use it, and is it still in good shape (and what color is the straps)? Also, as nice of a bag this was in person, it still bothers me a bit that this is a fabric bag for $1700? I was also thinking of the LV neverfull mm in damier, and while this is quite a bit less ($700), and a much different bag, it is all leather. Am I missing something here? |

The main problem I've found with my Pelhams is that because the bag is heavy (even when empty), the braided straps stretch out and don't look very nice after a few months wear.
I recommend the Jockey over the Pelham for this reason. |

I have a couple of Neverfulls, lovely bags. They hold up well and are very practical, esp in the Damier. |

^peski is right - the Damier and Mono are canvas but they are coated canvas, where as the Gucci fabric bags are not coated canvas. However the GG plus is coated canvas like the Joy Bostons. If you think the price of a regular canvas bag is too steep, why not go for a guccissima bag for your mom? It's still a monogram bag but in leather and it's only slightly less subtle than the regular canvas. Any gucci fan will recognize it!

Also, peski, a question to you and to everyone else, if you were to choose one, which would you pick? Damier NF MM or Pelham Medium Tote (or possibly a jockey, but I still like the pelham better)? |
