Default Guccissima Leather
Hi All,

I have a question about guccissima leather on the Gucci Chain Hobo's. Does the leather easily get scuffed to the point where there is discoloration throughout the bag. I have a regular leather hobo, however, it's smooth without any discoloration.

Yes, this leather scuffs. After having my silver guccissima bag for six months it was scuffed and needed repairs. Good luck!

Thanks Coleigh and Papertiger for responding! My guccissima leather seems to be getting scuffed; however, my regular leather chain hobo is fine. Coleigh, how did you get your silver guccissima repaired? Did you take it to the gucci store? If so, how much does it usually cost for repairs? This is my first guccissima and I guess I figured storing it in the dust bag would preserve the shine and color, but maybe I should moisturize it every so often although, i haven't had to do this with my regular leather chain hobo.

It's really annoying when favourite items start to have issues so I'd just like to suggest the following.

Most Guccissma leather is lamb or calf. The lamb is prone to scuff more. Ask Gucci which leather your bag is and follow care instructions accordingly. Chanel forum have some excellent advice for the care of lamb's leather.

For scuffs that have already happened see if you can polish them out with a clear cream first and if that fails then exact same colour polish

For fading - it is possible it is due to dryness. Most leather changes with time and its mostly due to humidity/dryness, sunlight or being stored in man-made fibre bags. Leather needs to breath (as it's skin obviously). Chemicals in some protector sprays can also damage bags in the long run.

Always clean and moisturise bags even if you just leave them stored. Even once a year is better than nothing.

Perhaps take it to Gucci to see if they can recommend treatment or recondition it for you. They usually tell you how much treatment will be before proceeding.

Without pics its difficult to diagnose

Hope this helps a little BagLover

Good luck!

Thanks for all of your responses. I went to the Gucci store yesterday and they said it would be $195 to repolish, clean, restitch, and practically make my bag new again. However, the SA convinced me that my bag didn't look that bad and to wait until it has a little more wear. Additionally, he stated that guccissima leather tends to wear a little faster because of the type of leather that they use fo it. The leather without guccissima wears much better and looks newer longer.

I have a chocolate guccissima med. chain hobo...I haven't had any issues at all..but I keep my bags moisturzed...even if I haven't used it I periodically condition it...I had one small scuff and I went over it w/ brown shoe polish and I can even find it anymore...moisture is key for all leather..it's a skin...
