Hi ladies,

I had to authenticate a bag recently and in my opinion, it was a pretty good fake. I emailed the seller a pdf pointing out the key differences. For those of you learning to authenticate, I've attached it so you can have a look.

I thought since I've created the file, no point just moving it to my recycle bin, I might as well post it here as well. Hope it helps!

To the person asking about whether or not they must pay to get the authentication letter - in my experience the answer is yes you will have to pay the $35 fee and you WILL NOT be reimbursed for it. The only thing you can get back is the original purchase price and shipping. The other burn is that PayPal will require you to ship the bag to them if deemed counterfeit and you will have to pay for that too. If you don't follow these steps you will not get any refund. Oh, and it will take around 60 days for all this to happen. And this is why I just love PayPal - not.

I would like to know what the serial # is supposed to represent and how we can know if it's an authentic #. In coach, the first digits contain the year and the second set contain the model #. There is a drilldown page where you can plug in your serial # and see what bag style it fits. That authenticates the #. Is there ANYTHING like that for Gucci? How do we know if the # is correct, or are they random numbers?? THANKS

Hi,
Has anyone purchased a Gucci from a Gucci store or retailer that has an OPTI zipper? Does anyone know if Gucci uses OPTI zippers? One more question, on the serial numbers on the back of the inner tag, do they always stamp them on 2 rows (EXAMPLE :
128456 or do they also
24645

stamp the numbers in one line? EXAMPLE: 123654 2355)

I'm new to the forum. Hello ladies. I purchased a Gucci hobo from a vintage thrift store in Atlanta. But I'm not sure how to tell if it's authentic. It has six numbers on the row of the tag in the interior of the bag and four numbers on the bottom. Is it real?

Please post close up pictures on the tag and serial number on the Authenticate This Gucci thread.

And welcome to our Gucci family!

I was duped in to buying a Gucci Pelham from Ebay. Thing was, the seller had a great rating. He was even a power seller!

Good thing I knew some people at the local Gucci franchise. I was able to take pictures of the fake bag side by side with the authentic one. Hopefully I get my refund. Even the store manager said it was a very good copy. The dead giveaway was the fake plastic controllato card.

Take note, one fo the pictures in the link is a Gucci Pelham picture (which was shown on the bidding I won) which I have seen in 3 different auctions on Ebay.

Sugar Pop - this is great that you were able to post side by side real to fake.. I would've never noticed these differences unless you pointed them out.. I'm going to copy this post also in the SHARING YOUR AUTHENTICITY KNOWLEDGE so it's in both spots..
