I actually got plastic authenticity cards with all the details for my three Gucci bags that I bought from Gucci store in Strasbourg, France. The bags were on sale (-50% off) and I was so excited about them that I did not check if they had all the paperwork with them untill I got home. One of the bags did not have the card. I sent a fax to the store requesting for the certificate and the following day UPS delivered me an envelop with authenticity cards for all of the bags and sincere apologies for my trouble. That's what I call customer service:)

this is really something new as Gucci has never sold their items with authenticity card but serial number yes. Does anyone here bought bags from Gucci store which come with authenticity card too?

I have what I think is a "vintage" gucci bag. Cannot find anything with serial numbers on it however. Where would it be and did Gucci always use serial numbers or only on newer items? This is red leather, 7" x 9" with a snap closure with a detailing pattern on the closure. It's like a wallet in that there are places for cards, a change pocket with snap and a place for bills. Inside is a little gold metal Gucci made in Italy placque which as an emblem and a registered trademark symbol. This "wallet" attaches by snaps to another piece that zippers and is for holding a note pad and pen. This part has a gold metal Gucci pull. Any ideas how hold this might be? I believe it might have belonged to my mother.

Hello all

I've searched through this forum for authenticity hints regarding serial numbers, but couldn't find what I needed. A friend of mine has a Black Gucci Chain hobo she purchased from an Ebay seller back in 2004 (maybe 2005), and it has a different serial number than my 2008 model. Her older one has: 114900 1000, and mine has: 114900 214397... Could Gucci have updated its serial numbers? Is there perhaps a list for reference?

She says the seller was very reputable, and the bag looks just like mine, just with a different serial number.

Thanks in advance ladies

Tried calling our local Gucci store here in Manila and said they don't authenticate bags and are not allowed to. ??? Then the girl told me to try bringing the bag with me to the store to have it checked. Haha weird.

Wink 114900 to thebagaholic
The serial number for your friend is for an older Gucci bag, if it is authentic then it was made between 2005/2006 with this serial number on. It is possibly brown in colour?

I don't think so Drwhosmate, that should be the code for black.

I think this is the Jackie O Hobo from a few years back? Can anyone verify?

It's from this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Here are better shots of the tag:

The zipper inside is also imprinted on both sides Gucci and considering the craftsmanship, it looks good to me.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

I don't think Gucci put their color code on the serial. I have seen lots of fakes with the number "1000" on current styles. But probably need to see pictures to tell.

I'll post this tip here, not directly related to Gucci auth. but could be helpful.

"thanks to nataliam1976 at the Dior thread, I have just found out about this site that helps you see neg feedback of sellers on ebay - http://toolhaus.org/

I think it's great! a lot of the times we can't see the negative feedback, especially if they were removed or are too old, so this can help us.
always check the seller and be cautious. good luck! "
