As I understand it, regarding the logo style Gucci bags, the logo's should be set perfectly symmetrical horizontally. If there is a complete "GG" 1 millimeter from the left seam of the bag, then it should be mirrored at the right seam of the bag. That's usually a dead giveway on any "new" logo bag.

Now, I myself have been looking for a vintage navy logo "speedy" or satchel type bag for a while. EVERY one on eBay looks fake to me. None of the logo canvas lines up! I remember in the 80's there was a "Gucci" store in Acapulco, Mexico. They only sold logo bags in the popular colors of the day. The bags were NOT made by the *real* Gucci in Italy but had some weird family-related license to make and sell Gucci bags. (Can't remember where they were made...? Maybe even Mexico.) They were not cheap, but they weren't the price of Gucci in the US for sure. The quality was spotty, the leather was a little plastic-looking and the canvas almost never lined up.

Does anyone know if true Gucci ever made bags regularly that did not line up the logo canvas perfectly at any time in particular like they do now?

Thanks,
Lori

Can anyone authenticate this wallet?
Or Is there anyone who's even ever seen this wallet?
I bought this on eBay at $140. But there is a bit wrinkled leather inside and the stitches on front side is not aligned overall(not a single stitch.)
Additionally, the letter 'GUCCI' logo on the case is a little thicker than the other GUCCI logo I already have.
Thanks

OMG. I bought a Gucci a long time ago and I threw it in my garage because it read: Gucci made in Mexico....I think this is the bag you're talking about?

Its true that above leather looks cheap. The zipper doesn't look right either. Well done for pointing them out and the pictures are great examples.

What does a real controlatto card look like? You can't tell me all their bags come with a paper card with "123456789" on it????

I figured the real ones come with a credit card like authentication i.d? Am I mistaken or is it only Cartier that does this???

I just bought my Gucci Britt Python from Bergdorf Goodman website and it was sent with bubble-wrap & tissuearound the metal parts of the handle and a peel-off vinyl around the GG.

From what I have read on this site, any wrap around the handles or bubble wrap are bad signs. The bag is very likely made in Hong Kong! Send it back ASAP and tell credit card company you purchased merchandise from a fraudulent company. The best place to buy a gucci is at the boutique or at an AUTHORISED vendor. I am sending my fake back! I replaced it with the real deal and it was way worth the piece of mind. Best of luck.

Help! I am new here. I bought a GUCCI on eBay. It feels terrible. Would GUCCI ever use a soft fake leather for an interior? Would the canvas feel weird? The inside tags looked good, so that is why I bought, but the straps aren't leather, the bottom isn't, and then the inside is pleathery. Any help would be appreciated! How do I post a picture? I may not even be asking in the right place. Sorry if I am not!

I know there seem to be mix opinion about the wrapping tissue around the hardware but Bergdorf Goodman is a good company i very much doubt that they'd sell fake. They have their reputation at stake. I totally trust them.
