I have never heard of doing this on anything besides furniture! Scotchguard is used to protect against stains, spills, etc. Did it work? What happened to the leather trim and handles?

Oh this is interesting!!!! I'llb e foloowing this thread...I like to think that the swatchis for testing products....that's a great idea to test in case a lotion may discolor the bag..I wonder if indeed this is what it is intended for...

My SA told me to Scotchgard to protect jeans from bleeding on purse, stains, etc... you cover up/tape the leather parts, light coats of Scotchgard. So far it's all good.

Where did you buy the Scotchguard? Did it come in a spray can? Did the SA tell you to to it just one time or repeat after a certain amount of time? Thanks

You can buy Scotchgard almost anywhere, usually in the aisles where laundry stuff is sold. My SA told me to do 3 coats, I only did 1. I was too impatient to wait for it to dry and do it again, etc...

I am glad scotchguard is ok - I asked in my local gucci store and they were really rude about telling me that it is not safe for my bags. One of my wallets got soaked the other day in the rain so I really wish I had sprayed it!

My guess is they want you to buy a new bag if you stain or ruin your current one? I don't think my SA would have recommended this if it weren't safe.
